Yeah, for you!!! In 1944 when I was 7 years old and in second grade, I decided I wanted to be a teacher!!! Original, huh? Scholarships of $250 allowed my dream to come true, when my tutition was $137 a quarter for a full load of classes. Taught first and second graders for 30 years, retired when I was still at the top of my game at the age of 56. I did not regret my dream!!!

Hello Nancy - congrats on your hits. When I was little, I wanted to be a teacher and flight attendant. Then I realized I was scared and got sick on planes, but I do work with kids (just not a teacher).

Great looking blog candy Nancy...good for you!

Anyway, I have a funny story about what I wanted to be (told to me by my mother since I don't remember it). When I went to Kindergarden, it was at a Catholic school taught by nuns. They asked all of us what we wanted to be when we grew as part of show and tell...my answer was Farrah Fawcett (does that date me or what?!?). Needless to say the nuns were eager to get me on another path!

For the real answer, I thought (like many of my friends who grew up in the eighties) that by the time I was 28 (i.e., the year 2000), I would be a VP of some big Fortune 500 company, have two kids, a doting husband and a gorgeous white New England-style home. (I watched the Secret of My Success with Michael J. Fox too many times!) Needless to say, that did not happen (like it even could) but I think with a lot of hard work my life has turned out better than the idealized world I imagined!

Congrats on 15,000! When I was little I wanted to be a nurse. Yeah, I totally can't handle blood, needles, or pain at all! I am totally not a nurse!

Wowza 15,000 hits that is fabulous, having said that I look at your blog every day so I think i have definitely helped to get to that, he he

Um what did I dream about being when I grew up, I honestly cannot remember, I knew I wanted to be a mum (which I am to three adorable girls) and I wanted to Join the Navy, which I very nearly did at 16/17 but then I met my boyfriend who turned into my husband and that is the end of that story!!! Wow Nancy! Your blog has come a long long way. I really like all the links. It's very inspirational and I think I'll bookmark your blog so I can go back to it again and again *smile*.
You want to know what I wanted to be when I grew up? Well two things. I wanted to be a teacher. The closest to that I got was volunteeering in an elementary school as a tutor. I was also lunchroom supervisor. Not quite meeting that mark, eh? LOL
I also wanted to be nurse. All mothers need to be nurses, right? lol Well that's about as close to being a nurse that I got. I did spend a lot of time in the hospital though. I learned a lot there. Often I would have to lead a nurse step by step when she had to change my dressings.
Oh well. At least I am happy with my life as it is. It's great to be alive.
Keep up the good work Nancy. I really like it!

Hi Nancy,
Grats on the hits. I like your blog, this is my first time here.
Okay, so I wanted to be a comedian when I grew up. I even kept a notebook so I could write down my "material". I'm not a comedian, I'm a mom and my kids think I'm hilarious!

Wow - there are a lot of great dreams here!

I dreamt of getting married, having babies, and staying home all day doing as I pleased. It lasted for the first 13 years of marriage - then I decided it was time to help support our family.

So I went back to school to become a teacher. I have been teaching 14 years already!

Did it come true, yes, but then I realized that I didn't want to stay home.

I dreamed of playing left field for the Detroit Tigers. Alas, that never came true. I was so blind, my glasses got in the way. And I was a girl.

Hi Nancy! Congrats on such a big number & also on the great creations you've posted in your blog! It's always fun to check out other peoples creativity :)

I originally wanted to be a hairdresser (at age 5) and wanted no kids b/c they would interupt my business! But then as I got older, I wanted to be a nurse and a mom! I did become a nurses aide and worked in a hospital for a few years before going on to another profession all together AND I am a now stay at home mom to three little boys (5 and under) So bits and pieces came true!!!

I'll try not to get too sappy....

I dreamed of being a mommy when I grew up. I used to treat my dolls just like they were a real baby. So far, the dream hasn't come true.

Anyway, thanks for being so generous! :)

When I was little I wanted to be a music teacher (not so dreamy, but that's ok!) It sort of came true - I have my education degree and right now, since I'm staying at home with my kids, I'm teaching piano. Close enough???
Thanks for the chance.

I dreamed of becoming an archaeologist when I was young. (I loved Indiana Jones!) Going to far off countries discovering the secrets of the past. Wow, I am so far from that dreamworld now - reality set in and I am in the electronics industry now!

Hi Nancy! I dreamed of becoming a pediatric oncologist as a kid. The reality of dealing with sick children hit me when I got out of high school and I knew I would not have the emotional stamina to be around little children in pain ... it broke my heart. Instead, I got married and have had 4 kids (thanks to God that they are healthy!).

Hi Nancy! I just discovered your blog...beautiful stuff!!
My dream as a kid was to become a special ed. teacher, as my brother had a severe learning disability. Turns out after working in the hotel/restaurant industry for years (and hating it) I had the opportunity to go back to school about 6 years ago and now work as a Special Ed. Asst. and I love it!!

I dreamed of becoming a fireman, so I could help people...just like my dad. Although it may not of come true for me, my husband was recently accepted to the volonteer fire department in our community.
