*Needs Something?*

Hey, did I tell you it's FRIDAY!??! I love Friday. I don't work on Friday. The kids are off early on Friday. I have no responsibilities for places to be on Friday nights. I love Friday.

This Friday I love more than most. As a wife and Mom, I find that I don't get much of a chance to have time to myself. I enjoy driving places on my own cuz I have time to myself. Sad, eh?

But this Friday holds the promise of time to myself....

Matthew is off to Cub Camp for the weekend. He's so excited. He loves Cub Camp.

Bruce is taking Alex to the mountains for the weekend go skiing. Skiing is a new passion for Bruce and Alex, something Matthew is too chicken to try and I have tried in the past and have no interest in doing again.

And that leaves me here, at home, for an entire weekend.... with no one around, with nothing I have to do. Ahhhhh, bliss!

So, on to the card....

I got inspiration for this card from a scrap of patterned paper I had in my stash. I think it's Basic Grey but don't quote me on that. I decided that Buckaroo Blue, Cranberry and Crisp and True Thyme were pretty good matches. I used my Marvy Giga Oval Scallop Punch on the paper and my Fiskars Shape Cutter for the Buckaroo Blue circle. I stamped "imagine" in black ink on a piece of the patterned paper and then cut it out with my small oval punch. I then punched two more ovals out of Buckaroo Blue cardstock and staggered them behind the patterned oval to create a frame. I punched slots into the circle and threaded some ribbon through the slots. I added three Primas with brads and voila.

So, the question is... does the card need something more? Should I have stamped a background on the True Thyme?

There will be another card posted in the near future asking for advice.... this was the least "needy" of the two LOL!

  4. I like the colors and the flowers match really well. Enjoy your free weekend! I'm so jealous. I'd love to have a whole weekend without two year old twins screaming for Barney all day! Enjoy =)

  5. Ya, I would stamp a background - I was thinking that even before I read down further to your suggestion. But I love the shapes and the ribbon, great job! Have a fabulous weekend and make sure you stamp, stamp, stamp! :)

  7. A very nice card, wonderful colors and such a unique way to make the small oval embellishment. If you wanted to do add something, I would try a flourish sort of stamp that was stamped tone on tone in the top right corner.

    Please show us an update if you do change something ;)

  8. Yes, that is Basic Grey cs on your card. I just covered a paper mache house with the same paper -- lovely stuff. I LOVE your card the way it is, but if you wanted to play with it more, I think some sort of distressing on the background {maybe w/ a stamp, maybe not} would be a great addition to play off the Basic Grey distressed paper. Also, in the BG paper pack, there is a coordinating script design that works great -- do you have a script stamp? Just thoughts ... Have SO MUCH FUN playing this weekend {I totally know what you mean about having alone time in the car!!}

  10. Hi Nancy, Ilove your card but it MIGHT be nicer with maybe a script done a bit across. start lower on the left maybe and stretch it up a bit to the other side . Wish I was there with you . maybe we could be happy making cards . whatcha think??? LOL Gerrie

  11. I like this card as well, Nancy, but it strikes me as the balance being off a bit. However, it doesn't need much (in my humble opinion....lol). I think just a watermarked overall background....perhaps mirroring the circular or cursive quality in the rest of the card...either use a VersaMark (which I don't think last forever) or better still a tone on tone ink on paper (if you have the two same or close colours). Again, my humble opinion....

    Bren
