*Master Suite (?) Renovation*

We have lived in our house for 13 years and of course, our tastes have changed. A good friend of ours helped us out this week and painted our master suite. I wasn't too sure of the colour as she was working, but once it was done I was starting to warm to it... and once we got our stuff put back in the room, I was in love! We now enjoy spending time in our bedroom.....

First, two before photos...
Not a great photo but hopefully you can see that the walls were an off-white colour... pretty much the same colour as the carpet. Very boring. This was after we took the bed out of the room and moved everything to the centre of the room. Our bedroom is pretty large as it is the "bonus room" above the garage.

Many years ago we tried a faux technique in our master bathroom.... I didn't know that I should have put a dark base underneath. We've hated it since the day we did it.

And now, the big reveal!!!!

This is the new paint colour, a view from our bedroom towards the door (the master bathroom is the opening on your left)

A view from the one corner of the room. In addition to painting we cleared out a lot of crap and removed a piece of furniture.

The room is not done yet.... a new bed frame should arrive this summer (it's on order), I want to buy curtains, and we need to hang pictures. Some day I will also have the tall dresser to go with the dresser seen in this photos (they came from my Grama's house)

A shot of the master bathroom without the pink walls. We took the picture from the family room, replacing a candle holder we had on the wall before that was just too small for the space.

*Red and White Exchange*

July 30th already? You know that means that summer vacation is more than half over right? Four weeks from today the kids are back at school!! WOW time flies!

July 30th is a big deal in our house as it's my sweet husbands' birthday... he is 41 today. I love you Bruce.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Just a quick post from me today as I am hosting a birthday BBQ at the house tonight and although the groceries are bought, there are still things I should be doing to prepare for our guests.

I created this card for a Mingle on the CreativeCuttlebuggers YahooGroup back in June.... for June we had to use red and white on our card (and thankfully I got the OK to use a little black as well!

Items Used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Basic Black and Purely Pomegranate
*Images: AMuse
*Ink: Memento black
*Tools: Spellbinders floral die; D'Vine Swirl Cuttlebug Floder; Big Shot
*Embellishments: black brad

*Mojo Created On Monday*

I know, it's Tuesday now.... but honestly, I truly made this Mojo Monday card on the Monday it was released (Mojo97)! It's shocking, I know. I was watching the Bachelorette when I got a reply email to a message I'd sent to my sister in law earlier in the day. While tidying up my craft space, I found a little something that I thought should have been in the envelope I sent her for her birthday... turns out that I not only didn't send the little something... I didn't send a card. I remember thinking about making her a card, but I have no memory if I mailed it or not.

So, I worked a little, watched a little Bachelorette, worked a little more, watched a little more... and managed to accomplish watching the finale and creating a card.

Now to remember to pop this baby into the mail.

Blonde, I tell ya... I am blonde! LOL!

Items Used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Bashful Blue
*Patterned Paper: Stampin' Up! (it's old)
*Images: Amuse
*Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black
*Tools: two square punches and my scissors to create the photo corner; Big Shot; Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder
*Embellishments: glitter flower unknown; Doodlebug glittered brads

A day without sunshine it looks like today.... and cooler which is a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I love the summer and the heat, but it's nice to get a break from it once in a while.

I'm sure our friend who's been up in our master bedroom/bathroom since yesterday will enjoy some cooler temperatures as well. Just realized how funny that sounds! Quick story... we were going to hire this one company to come out to paint our master suite... but when they didn't return my emails with the questions I had (that was back before our trip to Regina) we decided to go a different direction. Our good friend Chass is unemployed for the summer (she's a school bus driver) and she enjoys painting rooms... so we asked and she said YES! I'd rather pay her than some dork who doesn't know that it's in your business' best interest to answer the questions of potential customers.

She started yesterday and got so much accomplished! She is hoping to be finished today. I took a couple of photos yesterday after the room was cleared out and will take some more later today... and then more again once our new bed frame is delivered later this summer. I promise to share photos. We are SO appreciative of Chass helping us out!

*Cards For Me*

Yesterday I not only got cards in the mail, but I got a card hand delivered as well! Merlie and the girls were up visiting Shannon and baby Hailey and they stopped by on their way to lunch to drop off my birthday card. Unfortunately, I had run out to the grocery store a few minutes earlier to pick up some cold cuts and buns to make lunch (and to feed our friend who has been busy painting our master bedroom and bathroom). Bruce took Merlie and the girls to the back yard and entertained them until I got home... and I was glad he did as I always love a visit with Merlie, Lexiss and Madisen.

So, from Merlie, this great Hedgehog card.... she knows how much I love the sparkle and the bling LOL!

And then two cards from Allison.... first, a thank you card for the birthday card I sent her earlier this month, and then a birthday card for me! Thanks so much Allison!! I love the Bellas!

*Mojo Baby Girl 2*

Another hot day on the way for Calgary and other than it being a little to hot to sleep, I am loving it! I managed to spend a little time on my chaise in the sun yesterday and finished my book. I am now without anything to read. Sigh. I might be hitting the bookstore today... I think I want to read "The Time Travelers Wife". Either that or I will start my re-read of the last Harry Potter book.

Yesterday I shared the first baby card I created last week with the beautiful Bo Bunny papers... and today is card #2. Shannon straightened me out yesterday and reminded me that this is the card I gave to her (so the one from yesterday was for Jacquie and baby Nathalie).

The details are exactly the same for this card and the card from yesterday except I used the Best Yet set from Stampin' Up and this is using Mojo92 from the MojoMonday sketches.

Typically, when I make a baby card, I use baby papers and stamps etc... but I loved making these more cards and love that they are less childish but still girly. A little more elegant I suppose.

Stay tuned today's a big day and there's blog candy to win!! Be back with that post in a few!

*Mojo Baby Girl 1*

Two friends of mine had baby girls a few days apart... so when I was busy making cards last week I needed to make one for each of them. I did like I did with the two birthday cards I showed you.... two different MojoMonday sketches but I used the same patterned paper and colour scheme.

I *think* I gave this one to Shannon when I went to visit baby Hailey last week. Either that or it was mailed up to Edmonton to Jacquie to welcome baby Nathalie. Good memory, eh?

Items Used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla, Basic Black and Regal Rose
*Patterned Paper: Bo Bunny
*Images: Stampin' Up! Warmest Regards
*Ink: VersaFine Black
*Tools: Big Shot; Nestabilities
*Embellishments: Michael's Brides flowers (coloured with a Stampin' Up Regal Rose marker); Stampin' Up! Rose ribbon; Kaiser Pearls

This card follows Mojo93.

*Christmas in July*

We're finally having beautiful summer weather... nice and hot yesterday and today, and lots of warm before that... no rain, lots of sun! Loving it! Without air conditioning, sleeping is a little tough though. Our room was awfully hot last night!

I discovered a new spot to take my card photos... won't work when it's raining or snowing, but it's great... it's on one of the steps on our deck... I tried it on the table as I usually do but there was just enough of a breeze this morning that by the time I got the cards set up, they'd blow over.

I am in love with these cards. I was inspired by THIS card on Susan's Blog. I just changed up the images so I really can't take any credit for the design.

These cards are for Tracy's Christmas Challenge for July.... her challenge this month was to create a one layer card.

Items Used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White
*Images: Impression Obsession
*Ink: VersaFine Black; Pearlescent Sky Blue Brilliance; Copic Fine Liner pen
*Embellishments: bling

If I need to make more Christmas cards after this challenge, this will be the design I'll be doing more of!!

*I Created Today*

I was some kind of bored today. I just didn't know what I wanted to do. I knew I didn't feel like reading, didn't feel like shopping, couldn't find anything on TV. I figured I would work on the current MojoMonday sketch since I need a birthday card (in fact, I need two more and need to get busy on that!)

Items Used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Whisper White and Melon Mambo
*Patterned Paper: Imaginisce
*Images: Lizzie Anne Designs Say It In Script
*Tools: Big Shot and Nestabilities
*Embellishments: Stampin' Up Melon Mambo ribbon (tied so you don't see the dots)
*Sketch: Mojo96

A little note about this card.... the two butterflies (stamped and glittered vellum) came in one of the birthday cards that arrived yesterday... but I separated them from the card to take the photo and then couldn't remember who had sent them!! I know it wasn't Julie... it might have been Sue, but I think it was Lynne. I dunno. I'm not honestly sure how they were done but I will investigate and let you know if I figure it out!

Thanks for visiting!

*I Love My Birthday Month!*

There were more cards in my mailbox this afternoon.... I love my birthday month (even if this year it means I'm only one year away from the magical 4-0! Yikes!!

I love the cards I have seen using this embossing folder and the stamp set by Stampin' Up... and Sue did a beautiful job with it as well! Sorry for the bad picture... I created a shadow on the card. Sue (a fellow CSTer and one who is in my group for the Canadian Card Exchange this round), thank you so much for this lovely card!

Lynne made me this card.... a fellow CST member and Calgarian! I think that she used some of that stencil paste to create the butterfly on glossy cardstock and then used a brayer and her Spectrum ink pad to make it beautiful! Thanks Lynne

And finally, a card from Julie Mutch.... she is also on CST and we've gotten to know each other a little more through our blogs (please take a minute to check hers out by clicking on her name. I believe that Julie created this card using the same Mojo sketch as the card I posted earlier today. Cool coincidence! Thanks so much Julie!

*Birthday Wishes*

Happy Monday everyone... we spent the weekend in Blairmore AB in the Crowsnest Pass enjoying the company of great friends and Rum Runner Days/Thunder in the Valley. We had a wonderful time camping in our friends' sisters back yard. We did a lot of laughing, a lot of eating, a *little* drinking.... but the most magical part of the weekend was Thunder in the Valley.... imagine watching great fireworks in a valley, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains... you not only heard them and saw them... you felt them!! Way wicked!

We've already "reserved our spot" for next year!

This is another of the cards I created during my crafting frenzy last week.... you will notice that there are a lot of similarities between it and the card I showed you last Thursday. In fact, the colours and the papers are exactly the same. For this card I used the sketch for MojoMonday 94. I also used a stamp from the For A Friend set by Stampin' Up!, coloured with my Copic Spica pens.... the thin blue strip was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

Items Used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Basic Black
*Patterned Paper: Doodlebug
*Images: Stampin' Up! For a Friend
*Ink: Memento Black; Stampin' Up! Bermuda Bay; Copic Spica
*Tools: Big Shot, Cuttlebug Border Frills Embossing Folder
*Embellishments: Doodlebug brad

I am very pleased with how this card turned out... and it was so easy when creating two cards using the same elements but different layouts.

We might be off to see the new Harry Potter movie later today... we'll see how our day unfolds!

*I Love Good Mail!*

Yup, more good mail today....

First, from my good friend Helen (who happens to be a very very good friend of my Mom too).. She put a paint chip through her Cuttlebug.... and I love that border also done with her Cuttlebug. This was a thank you card as I sent her a stamp a few weeks back.... one that I no longer use. I hope she has fun with it! Thanks Helen!

Next is my second July card for the Canadian Card Exchange. This one comes from Carole Mork, whom I've known through the CST YahooGroup for many many years. Thanks so much Carole!

And finally, a birthday card from a fellow CreativeCuttlebuggers member, Mary Craig. I just love the D'vine Swirl embossing folder! Thanks so much, Mary!

*Mojo95*

I am so excited.... I am writing this post about an hour before it is scheduled to post... I am off to Shannon's house to see her new baby Hailey. I * get * to * hold * a * baby!!!!! I can't wait!!!! I just love babies!!

I created this card earlier this week.... just as I had hoped, I was able to sit and create on a rainy day and made a total of four cards. I used the Mojo Monday sketches that I had missed out on with my traveling since the end of June and got caught up with the sketches. Four different cards in one day is amazing for me!!

I have childhood friends with birthdays this month and this is for one of them.

items used:
*Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay
*Patterned Paper: Doodlebug
*Images: Hero Arts
*Ink: Stampin' Up! Bermuda Bay
*Embellishments: Doodlebug; Michael's ribbon

*Look Familiar?*

I was editing some photos of cards this morning, getting more ready to post on my blog, when I came across this card.... I don't recall when I made it but I think it was at the Summer Scraptacular put on by MondayNightClass.ca

Anyway.... I thought it was pretty interesting that it is so much like the card I got from Tracy that I posted earlier today... very similar really.... similar colours, very similar layout!

Same wavelength??

Mine is quite a bit smaller than Tracy's (mine is 4.25" square, hers is 5.25" square)

Items Used:
*cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Basic Black, Bashful Blue
*patterned paper: Upsy Daisy
*stamp: Stampin' Up! Best Yet
*ink: VersaFine black
*embellishments: bling!

*More Cards In The Mail*

I'm here today to show you some cards that I received in the last few days... I love my birthday month! Although, only two of these are birthday cards!

First, from my good friend Tracy... a thank you card. I gave her some cardstock at our last CalGals gathering because she loved the colour combination but didn't own the colours herself. I still love this combination and I think Tracy's card turned out beautifully!

This card is a birth announcement from my friend Jacquie who had a baby girl earlier this month. Nathalie joins big sister Kayla and big brother Eric.
This is a birthday card from a friend from CST... Irene. I have known Irene online for several years now and have had the pleasure of her company only a few times. She's a great lady.
And another birthday card from a CST member... I've never had the pleasure of meeting Ardelle in person... maybe some day

Thanks so much for making my mailbox a happy place ladies!

*Home But No Crafting*

I don't know what's up with me... we got home from Mom's last Tuesday and I haven't even attempted to create. I am reading my blogs and seeing so many wonderful ideas, have a few special reasons to stamp (some new babies and some birthdays!), and here I sit, not stamping. Last week I had a lot to do after returning home on Tuesday before heading out camping on Friday. And now this week we are home for a few days and then off again for another weekend.

Today it is raining and gross.... and I think I will spend the afternoon trying to make a few cards. I have a bunch of Mojo Monday sketches to catch up on!

I did manage to head out in the pouring rain for a quick shopping trip... Bath and Bodyworks opened in my mall of choice yesterday so I made my first trip today. This was probably the least amount of money I have ever spent at Bath & Bodyworks.... because there is no need to stockpile!!

So.... on to the card.... I got the idea from a card I saw HERE. I had fun playing with my scallop and inverted scallop circle Nestabilities.

A nice simple card

Items Used:
*cardstock: Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron, Basic Black
*patterned paper: The Paper Loft
*images: The Angel Company It's The Little Things
*ink: VersaMark black
*tools: Big Shot; Nestabilities

Time for me to get busy with some paper and adhesive I think.... wish me luck!

*Cards In The Mail*

I received some cards in the last few days that I thought I would share....

First, I received my first card from the Canadian Card Exchange.... I used to play in this card exchange all the time but took a long long break... and decided to sign up again. The three month round started this month. Each month I send out two cards to players and receive two cards from two different participants each month.

This gel card came from Therese. Therese, you'll have to tell me how you created the background with the blues and greens.... so neat!

I also received this card, a birthday card, from Saundra H who is on the Creative Cuttlebuggers YahooGroup with me. Thank you so much!

And last, but not least.... while we were in Regina the family celebrate the three July birthdays (my sister Heather, my husband and myself) on our last day there. I was lucky and received one of the beautiful cards Mom has created recently using her Cuttlebug. Thanks Mom!Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com
