*New Years Eve*

Well, here we are... at the end of what has been a challenging year for so many.  A global pandemic has made all of our lives different in the last 9 months, however I refuse to say that 2020 has been awful.  I had some challenging times but they would have been challenging with or without Covid-19.  But 2020 also made me stronger, helped me show myself what I can do... in 2020 I beat cancer for a second time and am hopeful for my future (which is something I didn't feel a year ago).  I have spent more time with my family of four, learned a new way to do my job (that I've been at for 8 years), I have figured out other ways to connect with family and friends... and I had the opportunity to make more cards in one year than I've ever done before!  My card count for 2020 is 327 cards... which means I will be sharing a few more 2020 cards as we start 2021.

I wonder how many cards I'll make in 2021...  2020 gave me a lots of time to play with being off while undergoing treatment and being home a lot more often thanks to Covid-19.  I'm not going to stress over it... just keep count as always, for interest sake.

But for today, another Christmas card for you (and yes, there are a few more Christmas cards to share)...

I swear to you, this card looked way better in my head...

*Blue*

I'm on the Scrap 'n Stamp Canada blog today with a card using the Random Act of Cardness prompt of Blue.  I had fun playing with different shades of blue to create this beautiful ornament!  I LOVE the Birch Press layering dies and had to buy three different Christmas ornament ones this year.  For this card I used some blue shimmer cardstock from my stash as well as some silver glitter paper, along with part of a sentiment from a stamp set from Gina K and the Belle Ornament.  I stamped the word JOY with Versamark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.  I had fun playing with the different layers, deciding how it should all go together... which colours where.

*Magical*

I hope you don't mind but I'm not done sharing Christmas cards yet...  I have about another 7-10 days worth for you.  I LOVE making Christmas cards.... and made about 80 different designs this year.  I put away my Christmas card making supplies on December 14th when I made a couple of last cards... an idea I had in my head.  Not to mention I received a couple of cards from people I wasn't expecting them from so I had to make a few more and pop them in the mail real quick :-)

*Ornamental Joy*

And here it is... Christmas Eve.  I'm working a half day today, sporting my ugly Christmas sweater with the rest of the staff at the Chiro clinic I work at.  After today we all get a few days off which I think everyone is looking forward to.

Tonight our little family of four will be eating our big turkey dinner.  We did this for the first time last year... we changed up Christmas not knowing how I'd feel a week after my 2nd round of chemo and we liked it so much we're copying it this year.  Of course, we would love to have some extended family and some friends over to celebrate the holidays, but this is the year to keep it small.  I am thankful my grown sons still live at home so that we don't have to have Christmas without them.  I am hopeful that Christmas 2021 will look a little more like Christmas past.

I know it's not how many of us expected to see Christmas this year, but I do hope that each of you makes the best of what is...  it's important for us all to do our part to stay healthy.  I think maybe it will make all of us appreciate what we normally have, just a little more.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas... cherish those you have around you, enjoy the time spent virtually with family and friends...

*Sparkle Christmas Light*

Do you want to know what I hate most about blogging?  It's coming up with titles for the posts.  I used to just number my Christmas cards as post names over the years but this year I've been naming them all.  I hate naming my posts.  Maybe in the New Year I'll just make the title the date of the post.

Anyway...  it's been exciting to me over the last few years that the different companies have come out with some wonderful Christmas light dies, punches and images.  Christmas lights are one of my favourite parts of Christmas.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, glitter paper

*Star Ornament*

This card was created using some scraps that were sitting on my desk.  With things like my glitter cardstock, I don't want to waste anything.  It's not like I can't get more, it's just so dang pretty!  The only thing on the front of this card that wasn't a scrap was the red bow die cut.  Everything else was already cut and ready to go.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Cherry Cobbler; silver and red glitter cardstock
*Tools:  Perfect Layers; Gemini Jr
*Etc:  foam adhesive

*Season Sparkle*

This Memory Box star die is such a joy to use.  Not only is it beautiful, it cuts like a hot knife through butter!  I need to branch out a little as I've only ever cut it out of silver foil cardstock.... but it looks SO beautiful done this way!  I've been loving the silver with red accents this holiday season so you'll see it quite a few times in my creations.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Cherry Cobbler; silver mirro
*Dies:  Taylored Expressions Simple Strips, Simple Strips Backer; Memory Box Chandele Star

*Believe In The Magic*

I love the font that Simon Says Stamp used for this "believe" die... it's just so pretty!  I cut it out twice for this card, once in white and once in black.  I then offset them to create a bit of a shadow behind the white die.  I added it all to an embossed panel.  I love how deep of an impression this Darice embossing folder makes.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Bashful Blue
*Images:  Simon Says Stamp Believe in the Season
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne

EDIT:  I'm excited to announce that I was the winner for a recent Time Out Challenge with this card!!!

*Joy To The World*

I totally love this fun patterned paper from Brutus Monroe... it's all candycane inspired.  I was hoarding it for a bit this season but then decided it was time to just use it.  I can find something else that I love next year LOL!  I wasn't sure how this card would turn out when I first envisioned it, but I think it turned out almost as good as I hoped it would!

*Spoils You Rotten*

So hard to believe that Christmas is just 10 days away... This year has felt long in some ways, but has flown by in others.  Some days during lockdown felt super long, but it feels like forever ago that I was doing chemo and feeling crappy.  If any year should have gone by fast for me, I'm glad it was the year of the return of cancer.  I'm happy to be where I am now compared to year ago... treatment is behind me and I am looking forward to happiness and health in 2021.  I know the holidays feel different for a lot of people this year, but I choose to focus on the good that 2020 has brought and will enjoy the holidays, no matter how different they might be.  I am happy to be here, happy to be healthy, happy to currently have no evidence of cancer in my body.  The last year was filled with a lot of uncertainty and fear...  I will not go in to 2021 feeling that way.

I truly love making Christmas... and I hope you're not sick of seeing them yet... as I have a lot more of them still to share!  I love this little penguin...

*CASology#380*

Welcome to the last challenge of 2020 with the team at CASology.  We all hope you have enjoyed the 2020 cue words and we look forward to seeing you back in 2021 with your clean and simple cards!  I love this challenge because the cue is always open for you to interpret as you see fit.  Sometimes I find I really have to "think outside the box" to create my cards... this was not one of those times.  I LOVE snowmen!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations...  link up your card HERE for your chance to win the prize from Stamplorations and to be invited to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge.  You can link up via a blog post, Instagram, Flickr... we'd love to see what you create!

I will be the first to admit that my card isn't an clean and simple as it could be... so I went back and reimagined it.  You are getting two cards again!

This is card #1... and it just felt too busy to me...  and honestly, inspiration came while I was writing up my blog post!

Here is card #2.... so much more clean and simple... and still so cute!

I'm curious which one you like better!

*Scrap 'n Stamp Canada Random Acts of Cardness*

Happy Monday everyone.  For one of my Random Acts of Cardness prompts for December, I chose the word "stripes" because I just LOVE playing with stripes.  I know that this photo is hard on the eyes, but the card looks awesome in real life, at least to me!

When cutting the die for this card, I decided to not waste anything, so you actually get two cards for the price of one today.

Once again, I've gone with the inlaid die cut idea for my cards.

For this first card, I cut the My Favorite Things Merry & Bright out of the striped patterned paper and then again fro a coordinating patterned paper.  I was sure to keep all of the little bits I would throw out if I wasn't doing the inlaid idea as I'd need them for this card.  I put some Be Creative Tape behind the area I cut out and carefully put all of the blue pieces in to the holes and then added the bits and bobs from the striped paper.  I put it on some red cardstock and trimmed it with my Perfect Layers tool

And then, like I said, I made a second card instead of wasting the patterned paper that I used

No patterned paper was wasted in the making of these two cards....

*Magic of the Season*

Sorry to say that I lost the sticky note with the information about this card and I was too lazy to go searching to find out who made the stamp at the centre of the card.  This photo doesn't do this card justice.  It is really pretty in person.

*Wreath Greetings*

*Silver Bells*

Perhaps I should have taken a photo of this card standing up in my light box instead of laying down so you can see the bell a bit better.  It's cut out of silver mirror cardstock and looks so wonderful!  I really like this red, grey, black and silver colour combination, although I will admit it was hard for me to not have a white card base (that really seems to be my go-to these days!)

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! Basic Black, Basic Grey, Real Red, Smokey Slate; silver mirror

*Peace*

Happy Monday, friends... I spent part of my weekend first getting envelopes stamped, addressed and stamped (postage, that is) and stamping the interiors of all of my Christmas cards.  Over the next week or so I'll spend a little time each day writing some Christmas card and getting them in the mail.  I might even find a little more time to create a few more Christmas cards... I always like to have a few extra on hand for those "just in case" moments.

The card I'm sharing today is another quick and easy card using that great winter scene patterned paper from Stampin' Up!

Items Used:
  • Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Seaside Spray; silver sparkle
  • Patterned Paper:  Stampin' Up!

*AAACards #180*

Happy Sunday all!!  Here we are, just a few weeks before Christmas.  I still have a lot of Christmas cards to share with you... I hope you don't mind!  For the first time ever, all the Christmas cards I am sending out this year are individual designs.  I'm pretty excited by that!

For the month of December, there is only this one challenge with the team from AAACards.  We know that December is a busy time for so many of us so we are doing just one challenge.  For the next few weeks, we encourage you to share your clean and simple cards that are "made in minutes" with the optional theme of Christmas.  We know that the first design of a card never takes just minutes... we want a card that once it's designed would only take you minutes to recreate it.

Our sponsor for this challenge is STAMPlorations and our guest designer is Dena.

Be sure to link up your creation for your chance to win a prize from STAMPlorations and to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge.

I absolutely fell in love with this card when I was finished it.  If I was going to make multiples of a card, this would be the one.  The hardest part would be the die cutting but since I used three different snowflakes, I could cut all three at once, cutting my die cut time in half.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; silver and blue glitter
*Images:  Poppy Stamps Art Deco Christmas
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne
*Dies:  MFT Stitched Rectangles; Impression Obsession Snowflakes
*Tools:  Gemini Jr; Misti
*Embellishments:  ribbon from my stash
*Etc:  foam adhesive

*Serene Scene Greetings*

This was a very quick card to put together... in fact, I think it took me more time to decide on a paper to use than to put the entire card together.  I have all of this wonderful winter scene paper from a pack from Stampin' Up! (retired)... the other side is all white and silver foil but sometimes I want to use these beautiful scenes.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; silver shimmer
*Patterned Paper: Stampin' Up!

*Iconic Christmas Blog Hop*

Welcome to the December Blog Hop with Scrap 'n Stamp Canada!  This month the team is playing the with Iconic Christmas dies from Concord & 9th.  This is a great set of small Christmas dies... I hope you'll hop along to see what each member of the design team did with these dies!

If you've been here before, you know I love snowflakes.  I was excited to see a snowflake in this die set... a simple one that could be cut out of a variety of papers.  For the hop, I decided to play with some holographic cardstock I had in my stash.  I cut a bunch of snowflakes and then started to play.  I created the first card and had some snowflakes left over so I decided to make another card as well!

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Gina K Black Onyx, Cranberry Tart; Lawn Fawn Holographic
*Tools: Gemini Jr
*Etc:  glue

I loved the look of the holographic snowflakes on the black cardstock, but decided to try them on white as well.  I honestly don't know which one I like more!

*Merry Little Christmas Lights*

I love Christmas lights... and it's been wonderful seeing that more people have had them up early this year.  I could sit in the dark by my Christmas tree watching the lights forever if I could.  I was so excited when My Favorite Things came out with the Christmas lights stamps and dies last year... and since then I've purchased several different sizes and types of lights.  For this card, I stamped the "string" and added die cut red and green lights.. then added a little white gel pen to create some dimension on each of the lights.  I took a thin greeting stamp and curved it along the door of my Misti to sort of follow the shape of the string of lights.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Red Red, Wild Wasabi
*Images:  MFT Party Lights; Simon Says Stamp Slim Line Christmas
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne

*Gold Joy*

I have quite the stash of Christmas patterned papers... and I decided it was time to start using them instead of just collecting them and waiting for the "right time" to use them.  Am I the only one that buys pretty things and then doesn't want to use them?  It's like I worry I'll never find anything else like it, or any else that I'll like.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up! Tranquil Tide, Merry Merlot, gold glitter
*Patterned Paper:  Stampin' Up!
