*Proud Mom Moment*

My older son Alex (he will be 13 in the Spring) participated in his first piano concert today. He's been taking piano lessons for two years now and really enjoys it. Last year was the first year he could have played in the Christmas Recital, but his nerves got the better of him and he decided he'd rather not participate. This year, he decided that he could do it.

We just got back from the recital and Alex (and all of the 31 other students) did a fantastic job!

Here's Alex, playing "Angels We Have Heard On High"

  1. He did a great job - especially since he's only been doing lessons for a couple of years.

  4. I teach piano and want you to tell Alex that he did a great job! How awesome to see a young man take notes and turn it into music. Not everyone can do that, but he did it with great aplomb!

  5. Oh, Nancy, you should be so proud! :) Alex did a fantastic job! I'm sitting here with goosebumps and a tear in my eye. I'm a true sap for the piano. Continue to encourage his talent, I started with the piano when I was a child, but gave up since we didn't have a piano at home to practice on and I kick myself for it! Maybe someday, I'll start lessons again...

  9. Nancy:
I think Alex did GREAT!!! Recitals, no matter how many, are very nerve wrecking....He was WONDERFUL!!! Let him know, that someone way across the ocean heard him and think he's great. Tell him to never give it up.

    Aloha from a music lover,
    Lori

  11. Hi Nancy - as a piano teacher I love seeing boys Alex' age out playing piano - such a great skill to have!! I have dads that come in to classes with their kids that wish they had the opportunity to play an instrument - but whose parents thought hockey would be better for them ... now that they're older and not as physically able - they'd rather be able to sit on the piano bench tinkling the ivories!! Great job, Alex ... and thanks for supporting him, mom & dad!!
