ReplyDeleteAs for me, I like to have a quiet birthday with my family, nice dinner and such.. the stamping group I'm in makes sure I don't have that quiet a birthday!! It's usually a nice made lunch that one of our stampers cook, complete with cake!! And of course, birthday cards! Our group has gotten so big that doing presents is a bit much now.

On my special day, I usually like to be with my family. Real simple and quiet.
Happy, happy birthday Nancy. I hope you have a fantastic day. We don't really do much special for my birthday. I just enjoy the day being with my family. I do miss my birthday cakes from when I was a little girl--my nana used to make me a homemade angel food cake and frost it in 7 minute icing that she tinted a pale shade of blue or green or pink. I adored those cakes.

Happy birthday to you and me. It's my birthday today too. I had to work today. But after work I got to eat birthday cake with my husband and parents. I also got birthday wishes via phone calls for all 3 of my children and all 3 of my brothers. It was a great day!

ReplyDeleteI really don't do anything special for my birthday anymore. I have finally convinced my kids that I don't need more "stuff", that if they want to get me something, it has to be a gift that is not a thing. This year, it finally sunk in. They got my car detailed. I was a happy camper.

I actually never celebrate my birthday. It's a week before Christmas and growing up, it was lost in the shuffle. So I just carry on. I prefer made up days to celebrate the dandilions blooming or the hottest temp of the summer. They are tons more fun. Hope you had a terrific day Nancy. My mom always told me I didn't have to do anything I didn't want to on my birthday. So I normally take the day off work, sleep late, and relax. It is a wonderful day to do whatever my heart desires.

ReplyDeleteLike you I have a summer birthday and it isn't easy to count on celebrating with lots of folks so I have come to enjoy simple celebrations with my little family and special traditions like white cake with LOADS of icing! When I was younger, my Mom used to put money in our cake before icing it... that was before loonies and twoonies but we were always thrilled! Wish someone would slide a few in this year! (I wonder why she never slid paper money in?) Brenda T.

Each year varies how I celebrate, depending on my family. Sometimes I'm surrounded by a bunch of people and sometimes it's just my dh and kids. But, my mom always makes me the homemade birthday cake. yummy!
