*How Do You Know?*

This morning, Matthew complained of a sore throat.  Not seeing anything alarming, I sent him to school.

And hour later, he phones to tell me that his throat is really sore.  I ask if there's anything else wrong, he says "no" so I tell him to stick it out until lunch.

About 90 minutes later (and before lunch) the school secretary calls to tell me that Matthew really isn't feeling well so Bruce went to pick him up from school.

He's complaining of a sore throat, more like the jaw area inside his mouth, but we see nothing.  No fever, no cough, no sniffles... just his claim of a sore throat/jaw.

This is one of those times I hate being a parent.  I hate that he is home, on the couch and I have no idea if there's something actually wrong or if he's just got a little sore throat that will be fine in a few hours.  Am I being "played" by my 12 year old?

He's not usually one to want to stay home if he's not sick.... so I have to assume that something isn't right... I just have no clue what that is.

Being a Mom is hard work!

I had fun playing with the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge this past weekend.  I knew what I wanted to do almost as soon as I saw the sketch...  I envisioned the Cuttlebugged snowflakes and a snowman on the front.  Not thrilled with the colouring or the colours of the snowman, but otherwise I love this card.

  1. Cuteness...a fun image! I wonder if he is getting any late molars...can kill the jaw sometimes. My nanny is out again with the cold...farg. This season sucks and it is only Nov!

  2. Very cute.

Well, hopefully it is nothing serious and he is feeling better tomorrow. I hate it when the kids get sick. :0(

  3. I know EXACTLY how you feel. We recently were awakened at 2:00 am by drama llama son lying on bathroom floor screaming in abdominal pain. Was it real (and serious), real (and not serious) or simply drama? ER, here we come. Turned out he had a virus, real but not serious. Whew. Hope Matthew is doing better now.

Your card is adorable! Love the cupcake snowman!

  4. I've got a 14 year old boy home with a sports related head concussion (knee to the eye). No school for 2 days no sports for 5!
2 weeks ago he had strep throat and stayed home for 4 days!
    No rest for the mamma!
It's hard to tell if they are really sick sometimes or need a mental health day isn't it?
At least you have the energy to still stamp. Good for you!
