*Eat Dessert First -- There's Blog Candy Involved!*

My Dad had a cousin who would come to visit when Dad was growing up... and of course, he'd be there for dinner.  Before the food was passed around, this cousin would ask "what's for dessert?"  He would then decide how much dinner he would eat based on how much he liked the dessert being served.

What a smart man!

And I think that's what I like most about this stamp.... it says "Life is uncertain.... eat dessert first!".

One day, I think we're going to do that... start with dessert.... or hell, just have dessert for dinner and be done with it!

I have some blog candy to give away to one lucky winner who comments on this post... just tell me what your favourite dessert is!!  I will choose a winner on February 16th.

I have lots of favourite desserts and I honestly don't know if I could narrow it down to just one....
*chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream
*warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream (preferably home made pie as the pastry is flakier)
*warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream
*my Mom's Angel Food Pie (nom nom nom)
Items Used:
*Cardstock: PTI White; Stampin' Up! Regal Rose
*Pattern Paper: Imaginisce
*Images: Stampendous; Impress
*Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Copics

*Tools:  Corner Chomper
*Embellishments: Michael's $1.50 button
*Challenges:  FTL127

This is the card for the current challenge over on the Clean and Simple blog....  you'll find the link to their blog to the right....  I hope you'll come play with us this week!

  8. My favorite dessert is "Better Than Sex" cake! YUMMMY And if I win I'll share the recipe with you! I have some good stories about this cake, taking it to work and not being able to tell one gentleman the name of it because he wouldn't eat it...but one day I tricked him (told it is called, "my mother-in-law's favorite cake") and you should have heard the moaning sounds he made while eating it! LOL!

  13. Your card is adorable, I love that sentiment. My family has a tradition that you get to eat birthday cake for breakfast the day after your birthday, well Feb 16th is my birthday, so on the 17the I will thoroughly enjoy my leftover cake for breakfast.

  16. Awww...what a sweet card! I love the idea of dessert first! I have 2 favorites, one is peanut butter chocolate cheesecake, I don't make it often, cause I would eat it all! The other is an ice cream cake that Julie Mutch makes...omgosh, it is sooooo awesome!!

I hope you do have dessert first Nancy!! It's fun to "break" the rules once in awhile!!

    Love your card.
I have been told the Red Hat ladies always have their dessert on the table when they have a banquet? (eat dessert first, is then their choice)lol
I make a great Flapper Pie and that is one of my favorites.

  18. What'a a dessert? I never seat them. But if I did, it would involve peanut butter. Come to think of it, a jar of peanut butter and a spoon work for me! And no baking!

Hubby on the other had eats anything with sugar. He would probably eat a bag of sugar if I purchased it.

  19. Super cute card! I have this stamp and bought it because I love the sentiment. So my favorite desert that is hard to narrow down, but store type bought would be mocha almond fudge ice cream. For homemade I have to say it is a tie between chocolate pie and chocolate chip cookies. Notice the theme that chocolate is all of my faves. ;-) Thank you of the chance to win.

  30. Cute card and a great story about your family. My favorite dessert is Strawberry Shortcake but the berries have to be our local berries from (Klicker Bros) as they are the best in the world and you have to have "real" whip cream and homemade shortcakes.

  43. Love this one, Nancy. And I see you used a button! Shocking!

Okay, here's another story for ya. I would say the best dessert I ever had? My wedding cake. The only thing was? I only had one bite...while we were taking the photos. We were married on the beach in Maui. Had the pics taken and then had to boot it to the other side of the island to make our dinner cruise. We had to leave the cake in the car. Well 2 1/2 hrs later...lets say a pineapple cream cake would not have been healthy to eat. So we had to throw it away. :0( If we ever go back? I am finding the bakery that made that cake and buying myself one!!

  47. Nancy--I agree with Dad's cousin and with you! We should definitely do that sometime! Sadly, I cannot pick one dessert that I love more than others--I pretty much drool over all things sweet! So I am going to turn this around slightly and tell you my least favorite dessert: Black Forrest Cake! I absolutely cannot stand it! LOL

  49. Love your card! You completely inspired me to try the sketch out this week, too! :) Oh my goodness, just ONE favorite dessert?? This is tough but I'm going to go with tiramisu. I don't have it very often as it conflicts with my plight at the gym...but holy moley, I LOOOOOVE it! Thanks for the chance to win! :)

  59. A few years ago we were invited to friends' for lunch and for some reason, still unknown to us, they served us this rich, decadent chocolate fudge cake first. Then half an hour later we had lunch. So, now the kids will often ask for "Dragt" Dinner.... meaning they want dessert first like when we went to the Dragt's place!
