It's the third Saturday of the month which means I am participating in the Create It 3-Ways Instagram Hop. Each month, a group of card makers uses a common theme and we each create 3 cards using at least one similar element from our craft stash. We want to show the versatility of products and ideas. We can do anything that ties our three cards together... colours, images, layout, techniques, papers....
This month, our theme is "hello/thinking of you"... and I chose to use pretty much the exact same products on all thee of my cards. I created one card that is not at all clean and simple and two that are clean and simple. The not clean and simple card has an extra element to it (and while many will say that it is still clean and simple, with the all over texture on the background, it is not). You'll see what I mean as you scroll through my cards.
First up, the one I feel is the most clean and simple as there are no embellishments and only about 1/3 of the card front is covered. I added a hint of gold to highlight the gold in the Washi tape pieces I used. All of my elements are overlapped, keeping a nice tight design element.
Next is a card that is still clean and simple, but less so. In addition to the gold accent mat that I added, I placed a few gold gems around the design. I also didn't place the sentiment as tight with my focal point. So while it's still clean and simple, it is less so because of the bling and the more spread out elements.
And finally, my card that is deceiving to many, but is not at all clean and simple I have an all over design in the background, there is not one singular focal point and my elements are not at all overlapped. While there is a lot of white on my card, white space in design refers to unaltered and undecorated space... so this does not qualify as clean and simple.
