I am trying so hard to get better at mixing patterns...  it's been so hard for me lately!  Even using papers from the same package! I had to do it with this card for the PatternPaper Instagram Hop (where our challenge is "layers)... and I hope I did OK!

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

Each month, I play along with some creative friends, busting down our stash of pattern paper for the Pattern Paper Instagram Hop. This month, our optional theme is chevrons.  I remembered seeing this fun folding technique so I went looking for directions to create the pieces to create the rhombus shapes that I then put together to create the chevron.  Thanks to Patty Stamps for the great tutorial!

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

This month for the Pattern Paper Instagram Hop, we are playing with the idea of a distressed edge.  We are all trying to use up some of the papers already in our stash, so I dug out this great floral paper to play with.

To create my distressed edge, I simply tore my pattern paper.  To get the white edge (since this paper has a white core), I tore the scrap piece towards me, leaving a white edge on the strip I wanted to use.  I then used another pattern behind that first strip to highlight the torn edge.

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

Another month is another Pattern Paper Party Instagram Hop...  we are meant to make a card using our stash of pattern papers.  I cheated.  I used a piece of brand new paper that I bought just a week ago.  Simply Stated is a Canadian company with some of the most fun things I've seen in a while!  Much of it isn't my style (in that I wouldn't know what to do with it) but when I saw this package of paper there was no doubt I was going to buy it!

*Pattern Paper Party Instagram Hop*

I'm playing along with the Pattern Paper Party Instagram Hop today... There is an optional theme each month and this month that optional theme was pinks and reds.  I searched through my stash and wasn't inspired by anything that was those colours, so I just took this fabulous piece of paper and cut it down.

I love this card!

*Patterned Paper Instagram Hop*

On the 20th of each month, I play along the Patterned Paper Instagram Hop.  We are a group of creative people who play with our ever growing stash of patterned paper, in hopes of using up some our stash.  I am not playing along with the optional theme of Hallowe'en because I am totally over Hallowe'en at this point... so I used all patterned paper to create a Christmas card.

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

The Pattern Paper Instagram Hop is playing with an autumn theme this month.  I chose a few different papers with a silver accent in them.  Two of them I did some ink blending over to make them more fall like as the colours weren't quite what I wanted.  I thought that the kraft card base made it look more moody and fall.

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

A group of us participate in an Instagram Hop each month where we play with some of the patterned paper in our stash.  The goal is to use up some of what we have instead of buying new... and so far, I've done just that!

This month, our optional theme is banners... so I used a banner die to cut up some patterned paper from the same collection... this way I know that all of the colours go together.

Card Info
*Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! Granny Apple Green
*Paper:  Stampin' Up! Pattern Party
*Dies:  MFT Celebrate; Lawn Fawn Banners

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

Each month, a group of creatives on Instagram are playing with our stash of pattern paper.  I know I have a lot of paper in my stash, much of which is too pretty to use!  I'm still not quite at cutting in to those gorgeous papers, but I am in to using more paper from my stash.  So far, I'm doing OK and I haven't bought anything new (although there are a few in the group who have purchased new LOL!).

Our theme for July is "bright"... so I chose what I think to be the brightest paper in my stash!

*Stamps:  Honey Bee Stamps Best of Everything

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

A brand new hop has hit Instagram today... one where we will be playing with our patterned paper each month!  We all have a stash of it that isn't getting used up... this is a great reason to play!

I was inspired by a card I saw by Bette Manning... a wonderful fun fold (you can see how it opens in the second photo...

I can tell you that this card sat on my desk, completed, waiting to be photographed for a few days... and I had used a different patterned paper for my background.  The more I looked at it, the less I liked it.  So I used a different pattern from the same pad of paper.  The front image is from that same pattern paper package!

Here's how the card looks open...
