I chose to do a rainbow with some clouds... I cut the rainbow pieces out of white cardstock and added some colour to them with my Copics.  I adhered them to a panel and then cut it with a stitched rectangle die so that there is only half of a rainbow.  I added some die cut clouds to cover the edges of the rainbow

I love a thin gold frame on my cards... I put it directly on the front of my card and added a die cut printed washi piece and some (gasp) bling!

*Pattern Paper Instagram Hop*

Another month is another Pattern Paper Party Instagram Hop...  we are meant to make a card using our stash of pattern papers.  I cheated.  I used a piece of brand new paper that I bought just a week ago.  Simply Stated is a Canadian company with some of the most fun things I've seen in a while!  Much of it isn't my style (in that I wouldn't know what to do with it) but when I saw this package of paper there was no doubt I was going to buy it!

 This week for the My Favourite Instagram Hop, we are playing with our favourite floral patterned paper.  Asking me my favourite is like trying to choose my favourite child or favourite type of chocolate.  What a terrible thing to ask me!!!

I don't honestly know that I have a favourite...  I have a few that I love, but I don't know how you choose just one to be a favourite.  I chose one of the patterns from my group of favourites to create this mini slimline card today.   I've always loved how this paper pops on black...

*CASE It Instagram Hop*

 Today I'm sharing a card that was inspired by a very talented creator that I follow on Instagram as part of the CASE It Instagram Hop.  Each month, a group of us find a card on Instagram that we like and we use it to inspire a creation of our own.  Sometimes it's more or less a copy of that card using the supplies we have on hand, and sometimes we use the elements of the card to create something of our own.

First, let me show you the card by Michele that I loved...

The first thing that drew me to this card was that beautiful flower.  It was layered up and full and such wonderful colours!  I loved that the three embossed strips almost looked like a fence.  To create my card, I took the colours Michele used but reversed them, making the blue the star of the show with the orange an accent.  I flipped the design to a portrait layout and I omitted the pattern paper layer.  I kept the three embossed strips (raised up on foam adhesive) and kept the idea of an overlapped sentiment, but I overlapped the flower instead of just the strips.

I hope you can see the inspiration from Michele's card but can also see my own style in the creation.

*Rainbow Connection Instagram Hop*

 Another month, another clean and simple rainbow coloured card for the Rainbow Connection Instagram Hop!  For my card today, I used three colours of Distress Oxide ink and let them overlap to create a full rainbow.  I then cut a snowflake swirl out of the panel I ink blended.  I cut a small white panel for the front of my card and added a bit of the blended panel behind it on one side for a little something extra.  I added some pearls and a sentiment to finish it off.

 This month, the theme for the White on White Instagram Hop is Halloween.  I had fun with a ghost die and a little shadow of black behind him.  I also added the soft waves texture on a panel behind my ghost, but in a vertical pattern instead... it felt kinda spooky that way LOL!

 Before we get to the challenge this week, I wanted to let you know that CAS Colours & Sketches is looking for new design team members!  This is a great team if you enjoy making clean and simple cards.  Your duties will inclue making a card every two weeks following either the sketch or colour combination provided.  You will also be responsible for hosting one moth where you will come up with the challenges for that month as well as write up blog posts for those challenges.  If you're interested, enter our challenge this week and add the letters (DT) after your name so that we know that you are interested!

I find the colour combinations the most difficult to come up with... especially in the fall when I know I should be trying to lean towards the warm and spicy colours.  SO I chose a colour combination that would force me out of my comfort zone...

I didn't have any of these colours in ink, so I had to go with a die cut card for you today.  I really like how these three colours workd together.  The Secret Sea sort of grounds everything and the Pecan Pie and Mossy Meadow add warmth.

*CASE It Instagram Hop*

 On the 2nd Saturday of each month, a group of us play together on Instagram to CASE a card that has inspired us...  we find something on Instagram and make a card of our own that is inspired by that first card.

First, here is the card I was inspired by, but the wonderful Beverley Brown...  I just fell in love with her rainbow of butterflies... and the simplicity of the card.  And of course the mini slimline said "pick me"!!

I changed it up a little bit, but not a lot.  I used a rainbow of flowers instead of butterflies and I used a larger sentiment.  Otherwise you can definitely see that I was inspired by Beverley.
