*My Favourite Instagram Hop*

 This week on the My Favourite Instagram Hop, we are playing with our favourite Nursery Rhyme.  I'm not sure that the one I chose is a Nursery Rhyme as such, but it was a huge favourite to me as a child.  It's a poem called "Wynken, Blynken and Nod" by Eugene Field...  I will share the poem at the end of this post.

For my card, I started with a black cardstock panel and and wave stencil made from a piece of cardstock and a wave die.  I then did some ink blending with some Distress Oxide Ink.  I masked it off and created my night sky with some gold paint and some die cut stars.

Card Info
*Cardstock:  Stampin Up! Basic Black
*Stamps:  The Ton Easy Expressions Birthday
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne; Tim Holtz Salty Ocean Distress Oxide; Kuretake Watercolours
*Dies:  Unknown; The Ton Easy Expressions Birthday

And now for the poem...

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
   Sailed off in a wooden shoe,—
Sailed on a river of crystal light
   Into a sea of dew.
Where are you going, and what do you wish?”
   The old moon asked the three.
We have come to fish for the herring-fish
   That live in this beautiful sea;
   Nets of silver and gold have we,”
            Said Wynken,
            Blynken,
            And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
   As they rocked in the wooden shoe;
And the wind that sped them all night long
   Ruffled the waves of dew;
The little stars were the herring-fish
   That lived in the beautiful sea.
Now cast your nets wherever you wish,—
   Never afraid are we!”
   So cried the stars to the fishermen three,
            Wynken,
            Blynken,
            And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
   To the stars in the twinkling foam,—
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
   Bringing the fishermen home:
Twas all so pretty a sail, it seemed
   As if it could not be;
And some folk thought ’twas a dream they’d dreamed
   Of sailing that beautiful sea;
   But I shall name you the fishermen three:
            Wynken,
            Blynken,
            And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
   And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
   Is a wee one's trundle-bed;
So shut your eyes while Mother sings
   Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
   As you rock in the misty sea
   Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:—
            Wynken,
            Blynken,
            And Nod.

*TIme Out Challenges #312*

Happy Thursday, creative friends.  It's the end of April and I am looking forward to warmer weather and sunny days.  We spent April with warm days that melted all of the snow and then a big dump of snow... lather, rinse and repeat for about 6 weeks.

Time Out Challenges has a photo inspiration challenge for you to play along with this week...

I was inspired by the silhouette idea and I couldn't wait' to play with this gorgeous new die I bought from Love From Lizi a few weeks ago.

*Embossing Folder Instagram Hop*

 This month, the participants in the Embossing Folder Instagram Hop are playing with the theme of Bloom Where You Are Planted.  I thought it was the perfect reason to pull out this lovely product suite from Altenew.  I have the stamp set, layering stencils, die and embossing folder and this is the first time I've used all of them at once!

I started by stamping the floral image and stencilling my colours on to it.  I then cut it out and embossed it.  I also embossed the entire image on to a front panel so that I'd have the frame as well.  I layered my coloured and embossed image on top of the simple embossed image and added a simple sentiment.

*Stamps:  LDRS My Wish For You; Altenew The Perfect Gift
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne:  Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Peeled Paint, Picked Raspberry

*Addicted to CAS #305*

 We have a wonderful new clean and simple challenge at Addicted to CAS...

I don't have a lot of family themed stamps or dies...  but I was able to make a card for someone's Mom (since mine has passed).  I started with a stencil and three colours of Distress Oxide Ink and did a little partial blending.  I stamped this gorgeous butterfly on top of it and finished it off with the simple sentiment.

*Stamps:  Paper Rose Studio Cleo Floral Butterfly; MFT All About Mom

*Just One Layer Instagram Hop*

 As a girl who loves her die cuts, a just one layer card is difficult for me.  Others may not agree, but in my line of thinking, a one layer card means there is nothing raised up from your card front... so that leaves stamps and inks and not much else.  So why on earth did I join this Just One Layer Instagram Hop?  LOL!

For this month, our common theme is Masking... so I used some ripped low tack tape to mask off an area where I did some pretty ink blending... and added a huge floral image on top of it.

Card Info
*Stamps:  Altenew Bouquet of Love; MFT Something for Everything.
*Ink: Versafine Clair Nocturne; Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed

*Try A Sketch On Tuesday #690*

 I had some fun playing with the current sketch at Try a Sketch on Tuesday... I will admit that I really wanted to play with the sketch but wasn't feeling overly creative (has been a theme this week) so I'm not sure that the card is exactly what I wanted it to be.

Here's the sketch...

I started out with stencilling a layer and then added a dark blue frame.  I added some Pinkfresh die cut washi tape elements and a simple sentiment to finish it off.

*Clean and Simple Instagram Hop*

 Hello and welcome to the first ever Clean and Simple Instagram Hop (CAS Instagram Hop for short!)

Each month, a group of creative friends will gather on Instagram to share a clean and simple card.  We have some guidelines for our cards, not no one is going to be too uptight about them!  Some of our guidelines are:
*minimal layers
*white space can be any colour
*minimal coverage of the card front
*keep elements close together
*use pattern paper, embossing, ink blending and bling sparingly

Many people don't realize that Clean and Simple is more than a card making style.. it's also a design style that has strict rules.

Anyway...  our theme for our first ever hop is SNOW

I created a rectangular space on my front panel with some low tack tape and I did a little ink blending to create a little more interest for my card.  I did some shading, making it darkest at the bottom, blending lighter and lighter as I got to the top of my rectangle.  I did a simple die cut JOY using a snowflake for the O and added a bold stamped sentiment to finish it off.

*Rainbow Connection Instagram Hop*

 Another month, another clean and simple rainbow coloured card for the Rainbow Connection Instagram Hop!  For my card today, I used three colours of Distress Oxide ink and let them overlap to create a full rainbow.  I then cut a snowflake swirl out of the panel I ink blended.  I cut a small white panel for the front of my card and added a bit of the blended panel behind it on one side for a little something extra.  I added some pearls and a sentiment to finish it off.

*Stamps: The Ton Easy Expressions Holiday
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne; Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed
*Dies:  Hero Arts Snowflake Cluster; The Ton Easy Expressions Holiday

*Rainbow Connection Instagram Hop*

 Each month, a group of us gather on Instagram to share cards we've made using the rainbow colours as inspiration.  We try (and sometimes fail) to make these cards clean and simple, but no matter what, the colours of the rainbow make these cards gorgeous!

For my card today, I did some ink blending with some Distress Oxide Inks on a small panel that I then cut my word out of.  I put the card together and it felt like it was missing something so I cut a small strip of the leftover ink blended panel to add.  It made all the difference!

Card Info
*Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! Basic Black
*Stamps:  MFT Essential Sentiments
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne; Distress Oxide in Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed
*Dies:  Simon Says Stamp Big Happy

*This or That Instagram Hop*

This week on the This or That Instagram Hop, we had to choose between Ice Cream or Ice Drinks.  I struggle to make the drink stamps look like drinks so I once again played with this little ice cream cone die.  I added a little ink blending behind the die cut to add a little something extra
