*Time Out Challenges #241*

It's time for a new challenge at Time Out Challenges... and for the next two weeks we want to see the cards (or other creations) that make you laugh!  We challenge you to be FUNNY!  We have a prize from Lawn Fawn so make sure you enter!

I love sarcasm and things that are tongue in cheek.... and to pair those with something that isn't necessarily funny is even better in my world.  I took a perfectly fine card and added a little humour with my sentiment...

*A Quick Thanks*

I need a few thank you cards to send out to some people who have been there during my shitstorm these last 9 months (almost 10!)....  I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest for this one.

The floral background is by CASual Fridays and I stamped it with VersaFine ink on Stampin' Up Whisper White cardstock.  It took a bit to dry so I set it aside while I got out my computer and Silhouette to create the "thanks" which I cut out of white cardstock and layered together 3 for dimension.  I then used three Distress Inks and blended them on the word and set it aside.  I attached the stamped panel to a blue piece of cardstock and used my Perfect Layers Tool to create a perfect 1/16" border around the stamped panel.  I put it on to a white top fold card, added the thanks to the front of the card and a few Dew Drops to the stamped panel for colour.

*Time To Create*

Now that the weather has cooled off a bit (not that I'm happy about it) I will feel a lot less guilty about spending time in my basement in my creative space.  I have been busy working on a lot of Design Team cards getting myself ahead of the game so I don't miss any deadlines.... and I need to find some time to play with the sketches and challenges I have saved on my computer.

I've given up all hope of being current on a challenge for a while.

I realized that sometimes it doesn't matter if I'm current, or even if I do them all....  I am going to pick and choose the challenges I want to do and will do them whenever there is time to do it.  Creating is supposed to be fun not always working to a deadline!

I am hoping to get some good crafting in this weekend with the temperatures below seasonal and the wind blowing outside.  I've put on a movie and the background ("Monsters Vs Aliens" for now) and I hope to get some mojo flowing....

And hopefully that will mean I remember to post to my blog more often!

I created this card back in June.... so sorry for keeping it from you for so long LOL!  This was a fun challenge from CAS-ual Fridays a few weeks ago (see link in my sidebar)... they had a 3X3 grid and each square had a different paper crafting element in it... you had to choose a line (up and down, diagonal, side to side) and use those three elements in a card.  I chose buttons, flowers and twine.
Items Used:
*Cardstock: PTI White; Stampin' Up! Almost Amethyst
*Images: Heartfelt Creations; A Muse
*Ink: Versafine Onyx Black; Stampin' Up! markers in Almost Amethyst, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink
*Embellishments: assorted buttons; twine
*Challenges:  CFC6

*It's Cold Out There!*

OK, time to complain about the weather... the forecast for today, just last night on the 11pm news, was for 19* C (that's about 66*F) and afternoon thundershowers.  Instead, we woke up to grey and drizzle and at 1pm it's a whopping 7*C (45*F) outside!!!  WTF??!!!  I had to turn the furnace on as I was just too cold in the house, even with my heavy sweater on!

The good news about the weather is that I don't feel guilty spending the day in my creative space.... let's see if I manage to get creative.

I did manage to get a little creative last night... made two cards!  I'm not honestly sure I love either of them, but whatever....

This card using the current colours for the ColourQ challenge as well as the Casual Friday sketch challenge.
Items Used:
*Cardstock: PTI White; Stampin' Up! Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede
*Images: A*Muse
*Ink: Stampin' Up! Soft Suede
*Tools: Big Shot; Spellbinders Nestabilities; Stampin' Up! scallop border punch
*Challenges:  ColourQ#87; CFC#5

The more I look at this card, the more I wish I had sent the one white layer (right under the sentiment) through my Big Shot with an embossing folder....  Otherwise I'm OK with this card... the mostly white with a few blasts of colour was the look I was going for.... didn't get it perfect, but I will try again!

Thanks for popping by!

*Happy Graduation*

And so it begins....

In our group of friends, we have kids that range in age from grade 1 to grade 12... we have kids currently in grade 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 6 and 1....  so we have 5 years in a row with graduation ceremonies!

This past week was the graduation ceremony for our friends daughter.  Last night was her graduation banquet and party and we were all invited over for a drink to see Tat in her beautiful gown before they left.

I decided to take her a little gift of some cupcakes from Crave and of course, had to take her a card.  I have nothing in the "graduation" genre of stamps so I used a computer generated graphic and took a saying I found on the internet and created the sentiment for the front of the card as well.
Items Used:
*Cardstock: PTI White; Stampin' Up! Early Espresso, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Real Red
*Images: computer generated
*Tools: Big Shot; D'Vine Swirl Cuttlebug embossing folder; Spellbinders Nestabilities
*Embellishments: Stampin' Up! grosgrain ribbon
*Challenges:  Mojo192; ColourQ#86; CFC4

This card meets the requirements for three challenges... I used the Mojo Sketch with the ColourQ colours and is a graduation card for CAS-ual Friday.

And I'm just making it in time for some of the deadlines LOL!

*New Challenge Blog*

I was very excited to see a new clean and simple (CAS) challenge blog make it's debut on Friday... I hope you will head on over to CAS-ual Friday and play along.

The challenge for this week was to highlight text in your card.  I do not own any text images and I don't have a phone book or an old book or even an old magazine laying around for me to rip a page out... so instead I computer generated some text to use as my background....
Items Used:
*Cardstock: PTI White; Core'dinations
*Ink: Copic marker; black text marker
*Tools: computer generated text; Stampin' Up! flower punch
*Embellishments: unknown button
*Challenges: CFC1

Have a great day!
