*Scrap 'n Stamp Fun Fold*

The cue word for the Scrap 'n Stamp Random Act of Cardness for today is Fun Fold....  and we want to see your cards that aren't a simple side or bottom opening.  If you google Fun Fold Cards you'll find a lot of folds to try!  Be sure to post you card on the Scrap 'n Stamp Challenge Facebook page for your chance to win a prize from Scrap 'n Stamp!
This is a photo of the card laying flat and closed...  I chose a relatively easy fun fold and I like how it turned out!

*You're going to start with a piece of cardstock cut to 8.5"X 5.5" and you will score it at 4.25"
*Once you've scored it, cut 1" off the right front edge of the card.
*Score that 1" piece at 3.5".
*Cut a piece of white (or any coordinated colour) of cardstock to 4X5.25".
*Attach the 1" piece to the back of the white panel
*Attach the white cardstock to the inside of your card.
*Cut a piece of patterned paper to 5.25" X 4" and then, along the right side, cut off 3/4"
*Adhere that small piece of patterned to the inside right side of card.
*Adhere the larger piece of patterned paper to the front of the card
*Decorate the card as desired

Here you can see how the card all comes together...
Fun, eh?

*Alcohol Ink Birthday*

I have one wish with this card... that regular ink dried on Yupo!  But sadly, I don't have a good black ink that will dry on Yupo so I had to emboss the sentiment on the front... but I didn't want to use black embossing powder and chance having little dots of black all over the front of the card (no matter how hard you try!)... so I stamped in black and embossed in clear and it's just not as vibrant of a black as I had envisioned.

*The Same, But Different*

Are you seeing things?  Nope... this is a very similar card to the one I posted yesterday.  The circle element, when put together, creates two circles so I might as well use them both.  I got this idea from a card I saw by Laura Bassen... it's really fun!

*Happy Birthday To Me!*

Well, it happened... the day has arrived...  I have entered a new decade... I am 50.  I was seriously thinking I wasn't going to have a birthday this year so that I wouldn't have to turn 50, but July 25th is here and I couldn't avoid adding a year to my age.  Being 50 doesn't bother me...  it's more that I can't figure out how in the hell *I* am 50!!  I don't feel old enough or grown up enough to be 50!

So here's a card to toast the occasion of my 50th birthday...  let the celebrations begin!

*Congrats, Graduate*

*Scrap n Stamp Random Acts of Cardness*

I am back today with one of the July prompts for the Scrap 'n Stamp Random Acts of Cardness....  for today's challenge word, you need to create with snowflakes!  Anyone that's been around here for a while knows how much I LOVE snowflakes.  I don't like winter and I don't like snow... but I sure do love snowmen and snowflakes!

The challenge for me was deciding what snowflakes to use!
I don't know how well you can see it in my photo, but the blue behind the snowflake window is all glittery.  I didn't have enough of piece of appropriate blue glitter cardstock, so I made my own!  I simply used one of my Life Changing Blending Brushes and some Gina K ink to create a blue panel with a bit of a gradient (it's a little darker at the bottom than it is at the top) and then I used a palette knife to cover the entire inked background with Nuvo Glimmerpaste in Moonstone.  I set it aside to dry before adhering the die cut panel to that glimmery piece of goodness.  I then added it to a card base with foam tape to add a little dimension.

*AAA#170*

It's time for another challenge at AAACards!  For the next two weeks, we want to see your cards with Maxi White Space (and by white space, we mean clean space... no texture, no stamping etc) with the optional twist of flowers.  If you link up your card on the AAACards blog, you could win a prize from Craftyscrappers!  The team LOVES to see what everyone else comes up with so please play along!

I enjoyed this challenge... I love florals and I love maxi white space...and I got some new stamps just in time to play!  I hope you like it as much as I do!
This is one of the three-step stamp sets from Altenew, but I only used two of the steps to ensure I had a lot of white space on this card.  And you know, I really love the look!

*Best Birthday Ever*

Happy Saturday all!  I hope that the sun is shining wherever you are.  It feels like summer goes by so darn fast... so fast that I forget to enjoy the sunshine when it happens!  We had a very wet spring and start to summer... let's hope we get more sun than rain (at least during the day) in the next several weeks!

*Thoughtful Blooms*

I love this Thoughtful Blooms set from Stampin' Up!  It really lends itself to clean and simple design.  I paired that stamp set with some Gina K inks to create a semi-circle along the side of my top fold card.

*Even More Awesome*

Just a quickie post for me today...  You saw a similar card to this a few weeks ago... this card uses the scrap piece that I cut off of the panel on THIS card.  I didn't want to throw it out, so I created a second card!  I actually think I like this card better than the original!

*Balloon Birthday*

I am truly loving this card.... the larger black border really sets off the colours in the balloons... and the little addition of a white gel pen highlight to the balloons makes them almost jump off the page.  This would be a great card to make in multiples as it went together pretty quickly and easily... and if you use a stamp positioning tool like the Misti, you could set up the stamps and just stamp it all at once.

*I Miss You*

Don't fall over... but I have another card that doesn't have a white card base!  I know, it's shocking!  I used to do colourful card bases all the time...  I don't know what happened to make me change to doing so many white card bases.  I guess the white base just looks more clean and simple to me (and that's my preferred style).

So this card is still clean and simple, even with a colourful card base.  There's still a lot of "white space" (which truly means space without anything going on).

*Love & Hugs*

I'm happy it's the weekend...  I know I've only worked 2 days this week, but I am tired.  I will get used to it, I know... but for today, I am tired.  I've got nothing planned until I have to head back to work on Tuesday morning.  I truly love my job and am so happy to be back, sitting at the desk, greeting patients, laughing with my co-workers and feeling like I'm contributing to something other than the divot on a couch.  I am missing my wide open crafty time and this is working only half my regular schedule!  I'm going to have to be more focused on days I don't work if I want to create!

*Happy Heart*

I love how this Stampin' Up! foiled paper takes ink....  you can turn a piece of white paper decorated with foiled flowers and make it any colour (or colours) you want.  I find a light hand with the blending brushes works the best... building up the depth of colour slowly.

*Heck Yes!*

I've had a couple of shifts back to work now and it's been good.  I am super tired after work, but am doing ok.  I think it's a combination of still recovering from chemo, not using my brain as much as I do at work for the last 8 months and having to be "on" for so many hours a day.  When you work reception, your job is to be happy and helpful... and that can be exhausting! LOL!  I am glad to be back, interacting with people and feeling less like a lump on a log :-)

I like the card I'm sharing today... although I do wish I had a bit more of the flowers showing, coming a bit deeper in to the card.

*CAS#371*

It's time for another challenge with the clean and simple crew at CASology!  For the next month, we want to see your cards that use the cue word "pool".... you can interpret this any way you want.  All we ask is that your card is clean and simple!  Please be sure to link your creation on the CASology Blog for your chance to win a prize from STAMPlorations and to be featured on the blog as well!

I created a little "pool" for my mermaid on the floatie to play in....

*AAA#169*

It's time for a Christmas in July theme with the AAA Cards team!  For the next two weeks, we want to see your clean and simple cards (lots of empty space!) that you can make in minutes (after the initial design is done, the card should be quick to reproduce) with the optional theme of Christmas.  I LOVE making Christmas cards so of course I took on both themes!

For this challenge, our sponsor is Time For Tea Designs.  Link up your card on the AAACards website for your chance to win a $15 credit to their store!

My card came together very quickly... definitely a made in minutes card!
I started out cutting the patterned paper strips to 3/4" in width but I decided they were too big... so I trimmed off a 1/4" from each.  I then adhered the large strips to the top left of the card.  I then stamped the sentiment thinking that would be the end of the card.... but I felt like it was missing something.  So I added those 1/4" strips to the bottom right corner, mimicking ribbon on a Christmas present.  I like how it turned out.

*Sparkle Floral Background*

I mentioned a few days ago that my style is clean and simple... nothing too over the top, lots of blank space on the card front, just clean and simple.  I also admitted that sometimes I stray from that style.... and the card for today shows that (I think).  It's not a lot of layers or a lot of work, but there isn't much plain blank space...

*Happy Birthday Flags*

Another great way to use up scraps of patterned paper....  these pieces are 1/2" wide and under 2" long to give you an idea of what size I used.  I simply cut the ends of the strips with the Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banner die to create the flag ends.

*Summery Smile*

While you're reading this blog post, I am at work.  At work for the first time since October 24, 2019.  At work after having major surgery in October and doing 12 rounds of chemo from December to May.  At work...  a different place to be in the summer of 2020 with Covid-19 still making the top story of the day on the news, but I place I feel comfortable and at home there.  I'm sure I will be exhausted tonight when I get home... but I am happy to be putting the pieces of my life back together.  I am only working part time (2 days a week) for the month of July.  If things go well, I will be back to my full time hours (4 days a week) in August.

I timed this poorly... I should have taken the summer off too LOL!

Of course, this will mean a lot less time for crafting and creating... but there will still be days off where I will hopefully find mojo, time and energy for creating!

But for now I have a backlog of cards to share.... I'm good through the summer I think with the cards I have yet to blog!
I love how pretty this card turned out...  happy colours, but subtle....  just screams spring to me!

*Canada, EH Blog Hop*

The design team at Scrap 'n Stamp Canada decided to change things up a little bit for our hop this month... we usually start on the first Friday of the month but since this is a Canada themed blog hop for Canada Day, we decided to start the hop a few days early on Canada Day!

We hope you'll play along with us for the next two weeks.  Please visit each of the blogs on the hop (listed below) and leave a comment on each for your chance to win a prize pack from Scrap 'n Stamp.  And this month we have a treat for you... comment on posts from the design team on Facebook and on Instagram for more chances to win!  We will award a prize pack to each of the three places to comment!

As you know, my style is pretty clean and simple... I do stray from it from time to time, but for the most part, you're going to see a lot of empty space on my cards.  I used to struggle with cards like this and now I struggle with cards with more going on.  Funny how your talents and tastes change over the years.

So here you have my clean and simple take on a Canada themed card!  Lots of Red and White and of course, the maple leaf!

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 100lb; Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper

Have fun checking out what the rest of the design team has created.... and don't forget to leave those comments!  (having trouble with leaving comments on any blogs that are blogspot.com?  Check out my post here!!)
