I decided to once again let an embossing folder take the main stage for my card... and I got to use this fabulous frame stencil that my sister gave me for Chrsitmas!
Two of my favourite things are coming together in the challenge at Christmas Craft Creations for January... a Christmas card and glitter/sparkle! There's no better time to use a good glitter paper than for a Christmas card!
I dug in to my box from the Scrapbook & Cards Today fall event to find this great Spellbinders die. It cut beautifully using this glitter paper from my stash.
I'm here with my card for the Christmas Craft Creations December Challenge... you have a little more time to get creative with the theme of Decorations. I look forward to seeing what you create!
I had some fun playing with my Glimmer Hot Foil machine to create my card... and added a little pop of colour to finish it all off!
Happy Wednesday, Crafty Friends! I'm here with my design team card for Christmas Craft Creations. The current theme is "metallics" and there is still time to play along! Gold and silver are perfect for Christmas, don't you think?
I mixed my gold and silver with some sparkle and shine to make it all a little more special. I could see this card done in other colours as well, like maybe shades of blue with silver, or red and green with a Chrsitmas tree or ornament instead of the snowflake.

Our challenge for August is right up my alley! It's a clean and simple challenge. I went super clean and simple with my card... white with a bit of silver and all die cuts too... I love how the stitching along the outside of the smaller layer really makes that layer stand out... and some foam adhesive helps too!
It's an anything goes theme for July at Christmas Craft Creations.... I sure hope you'll play along with us! This is a wonderful way to build up your supply of Christmas Cards!

I saved a card a while back that had the diagonal striped paper along the bottom of the front panel... I really liked that card so I thought I'd use some elements of it to make my card to share today. I kept the idea of the diagonal stripes, but I turned my card on it's side instead. I added a red mat to it as well to help it pop off the card front.
You still have a few weeks to play along with the June challenge at Christmas Craft Creations. We want to see your creations using heat embossing this month! I'm also playing along with the current challenge of an embossed background at Inkspirational
I love making snow with some thick embossing powder.... I simply sprinkle it on the top of the cardstock and heat it from underneath. The powder melts in to the cardstock a bit so it doesn't come off. I don't use any ink... just the chunky embossing powder and heat.
There is still time to play along with the May theme at Christmas Craft Creations... this one was a lot of fun for me because I really LOVE die cut cards... and this challenge has us using no stamping at all! The hardest part was to shift through all the ideas in my head to settle on just one!
There are lots of things you could do for your project other than stamping... die cuts (like I did), embossing, quilling, ink blending, stencils... or a combination of any of those!

I have a few of these stamps by Impression Obsession that have a fun twist to them. I just love a little giggle in my cards when I can do it!
It's a one layer card challenge at Christmas Craft Creations and it's proving to be difficult for a lot of people as there are very few cards in the linky tool! I hope you'll play along with us!
A one layer card to me means there is nothing extra put on top... no dies, no sentiment strips... The card is flush with just the card front. I cheated a little bit because I played with Copics which bleed through the cardstock I use. I simply stamped and coloured on a panel the exact same size as my mini slimline card and adhered it to the front when I was done colouring it.
The team at Christmas Craft Creations is playing with a non-traditional Christmas colour for the month of February... in honour of the month of Valentine's Day, we want to see your Christmas cards using pink as the main colour.
I turned to my patterned papers for my card for this challenge... and this very old Doodlebug 6x6 pad had lots of choices. I had used the wavy Merry Christmas in a card a few years ago and had carefully cut that wave pattern along the bottom. It turned out to be the perfect size for a mini slimline card! I found another piece in the pack and here's what I came up with...

I keep my left overs in a little container on my desk... and there was getting to be quite a bit in it lately. Here's a photo of my bin of leftovers before I started digging through it to make my card...
I dug through the bin and pulled out anything I thought could work for a Christmas card.... and here's what I came up with... The colours aren't perfectly traditional but I still think they work...
I took a few days off of blogging to enjoy Christmas with my family. I am back to work this afternoon and my days off truly flew by.

We have our monthly themes laid out a year in advance and I was really looking forward to the December card because I really love gnomes! I have a few different gnome items in my stash but I seem to reach for these little Mama Elephant ones more often than not!
To created my snowy background, I sprinkled a chunky white glitter on the cardstock (no ink) and heated it from below. It gives a wonderfully random pattern. I really fell in love with this card!
I'm here with a great theme for October with Christmas Craft Creations. A white on white card can be very difficult to achieve. The keys to white on white are texture and dimension.
I *really* wanted to add a sentiment to my card but I didn't like how my white embossing powder looked with the design I had already done... so I used my clean and simple thoughts and just let it be. I am in love with the simplicity of this card. I used a Sizzix Switchlet (Winter Snowflakes) that cuts and embosses at the same time as well as a Tim Holtz embossing folder to create my falling snow. I put this smaller panel on to a white card base to create a frame.

My winter activity is playing in the snow.... you can see I had fun building an igloo and decorating it! In reality, I had more fun playing with my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine to create my snowy background LOL!
There's still time to play along with the July theme of Patterned Paper at Christmas Craft Creations. This is a monthly challenge that helps you get at least one Christmas card made every month. The design team always has such wonderful creations... you should check them out!
I got this one sheet of patterned paper at a garage sale and I honestly don't know why I bought it. I don't scrapbook and honestly the design on it is really not suited to cutting down for Christmas cards. But I found a section that would work and I went for it.... the patterned paper is the majority of my card. I added a die cut banner, a stamped sentiment and a few snowflakes to finish it off.
There's still some time to play along with the Christmas Craft Creations June theme of TREES! This is a great challenge to help you get a few Christmas cards made throughout the year. I had promised myself to make more Christmas cards before October and while I've done that, it's really only been for this challenge! Maybe I should make one day a month where I make only Christmas cards.
Anyway... I found these Spellbinders Bottlebrush Trees second hand on a Facebook group and snatched them up. I knew I wanted to use them for this challenge.

When plaid first started being popular (again), I resisted it. I honestly wasn't a big fan. But over the years it's grown on me! There's just something about a good old red and black buffalo check....
