*Embossed Thanks*

Another card using an embossed panel.... I will admit that this embossing folder is a double one and I did this background and then the other and chose the other for the card you saw yesterday.  I couldn't just throw this one out so I made a card with it as well.

*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne

*Birthdays Look Great On You!*

I've had this scrap piece of alcohol inked background sitting on my desk for weeks... maybe longer.... and decided I needed to do something with it.  And this is what I came up with.

The photo doesn't quite show the circle embossed background quite as well as I had hoped (maybe if you zoom in it will be better).  A lot of pattern going on for it to be a truly clean and simple card, but it's close!
Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb; glitter Yupo
*Images:  MFT Anything But Basic
*Ink:  Assorted alcohol inks; Versafine Clair Nocturne
*Dies:   MFT Impact Alphabet; Lawn Fawn Every Day Sentiment Banners
*Tools:  Gemini Jr; Spellbinder M-Bossibilities folder
*Etc:  foam tape; Kaiser Kraft Pearls (black)

*CAS#367*

I'm back again with another challenge from the CASology Blog!  Once again, this is a two week challenge and we want you to keep it Clean and Simple!  My card today is a little less CAS than I usually make, but I like it... and there's still a lot of blank space.
For this challenge, we want you to share with us your interpretation of the word "Magical".  Please be sure to share your cards with us on the CASology Blog for your chance to win a prize from our sponsor, Uniko!
So let me explain the sentiment on this card.  I *wish* I owned a stamp that said this... but I don't, so I had to create it on my computer and print it out.  I was going to send it to my Silhouette but the font was too small for it to cut properly.  Since my latest cancer diagnosis, I have said this phrase a lot.  It gives me a little boost of energy and spirit.  And on chemo days, I have unicorn underwear that I like to wear to my treatment....  a little boost for me!  I truly am a magical freakin' unicorn (or at least I am trying to be!)

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb; Stampin Up! Highland Heather
*Images:  Picket Fence Studios For You
*Inks:  Gina K Amalgam; Copics; Stampin Up! Chalk Marker

*Floral Fabulous*

I will admit, I don't have the patience for colouring.  I don't really enjoy it.  Maybe it's because I don't feel like I'm good at it?  I suck at shading, honestly.  I know I need to put in some practice to get better, but since I don't really love it, is it a waste of time?

That being said, I do love the look of Copics and I hope I do them at least a bit of justice when I do pull them out to colour.

I love these Tonic Studios images....  such beautiful florals!
Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb; Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grape and Basic Black

*AAA#164*

I hope that everyone who is self-isolating and practicing physical distancing has been able to find some time to get creative in the last several weeks!  I know I have!  I've made more than 130 cards already in 2020!  That's more different designs than I have made some years, let alone in 4 months!  I am loving all this creative time... it will be hard to go back to work after chemo treatments and when my office can open again with the Covid-19.
It is time for another challenge with AAA Cards!!!  I love that this challenge is two weeks long and gives you a basic challenge with a twist if you choose to encorporate it in to your card.

For this two week period, our sponsor is CASual Friday....  we hope you'll play along and link up your creations on the AAACards Blog!

I was going to skip the optional part of the challenge this time around because I didn't think I had anything that worked.... but I dug through my stamps and found this great MFT dinosaur set and thought to myself "why not?".  Does anyone remember that show "Dinosaurs" from the early 1990s?  "Not the Mama!!".
I did a little ink blending to create more of a background for my Dino-daddy.... and then layered that on top of a white card.

Items Used:
*Images:  MFT You're Rawr-some
*Ink:  Gina K Grass Green, Blue Raspberry; Versafine Clair Nocturne; Copics
*Tools:  Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blending Brushes

I look forward to seeing YOUR creations!

*Two For The Price of One*

Hi All... I'm on the Scrap 'n Stamp blog today, and you get two cards instead of just one.  Although it might not be a real good prize... cuz honestly, I don't like one of the cards LOL!  I was playing around with some new products and thought the card was OK enough to create my blog post, but the more I looked at it, the more I disliked it....

Let's start with the good card....  maybe you won't scroll far enough to see the card I don't like!

I decided to play with the Paper Hug stamp that we used in this months blog hop.... Who can't use some extra hugs these days?

I really love how this stencil looks with the multiple colours of ink.  It wasn't a tough card to make.  I made sure to use my stamp positioning tool to ensure I got a nice clear and crisp black sentiment over top of the Gina K ink I blended on top of the stencil.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb; Lawn Fawn Cardstock (from a rainbow pack)
*Images:  Picket Fence Studios A Paper Hug
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne; Gina K Blue Raspberry, Wild Dandelion, Sweet Mango, Grass Green, Lipstick (all from the Summer set)
*Stencil:  Gina K Mandala Burst
*Tools:  We R Memory Keepers Layer Guides; Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blender Brushes
*Embellishments:  Pearl gems

OK.... so be warned, this next card is not my best work LOL!  You can stop here if you want.... or you can scroll to see the other card... totally up to you!

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb; blue foil; black
*Dies:  MFT Double the Smiles
*Stencil:  Gina K Sassy Stripes
*Enbellishments:  Picket Fence Studios Paper Glaze Cornflower Blue; Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen
*Tools:  We R Memory Keepers Layers Guides

*Happy Birthday To You*

I make a lot of birthday cards... I send out a lot but I definitely make more than I need.  At some point I should make a stockpile of cards for other occasions.

But for now, you get birthday cards.

*Smile Scraps*

Welcome to another episode of Nancy's Craft Table Scraps!  I had made a spring toned ink blended panel for another card a while back and left it on my craft table for a while as I didn't want to throw out it.  I used up the rest of it for this card.... and I'm glad I kept that scrap!

*Images:  Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background

Once again I found inspiration on Pinterest.  I saw someone use a die with these colours and I had to try it.  My die is different so there is a lot more white space, but I do like how it turned out.

*Wishing You The Best*

Another card using that wonderful Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration set.  I just love these little flowers!  The leaves are one stamp giving four sets of leaves.... and I'm contemplating cutting them apart.

A group of us got together over Zoom to create and chat together... this is one of the cards I made that day.  Suddenly I'm a fan of video chats... I'll admit I've only done it a few times since it became a "thing".

*Congrats!*

I was asked if I could make a graduation card for someone...  I don't have any graduation stamps, so I wasn't sure I could do it.  I thought about it a bit and came up with this card.  Hopefully the person who asked for it will think it's adequate!

For this card, I followed sketch #360 at CAS(E) This Sketch

*Sending You A Big Hug*

During Social Distancing, I gotta tell you, I miss hugging people.  Sure, I hug my family that lives with me, but I would hug people in greeting if I hadn't seen them in a while.  Even with my compromised immune system, I was still going in for the hug.  I love hugs.  So I decided a card with a hug might be a good idea...

*Anniversary Card*

Back in March I had a text from a friends' husband.... he and his wife had been talking about stuff and she told him that I make cards.  I had a message from him a day later, asking if I could please make a card from him to give to his wife for their 20th wedding anniversary.  Of course I said yes.

But all of this came during that first week of self-isolation in Calgary so I made the card, he said he'd come by and I said I'd leave it taped to the front door.  About an hour later he texted me that he was here and there was nothing taped to the door.  Either the wind (which was blowing pretty good) grabbed it and took it away or someone else came up to our door and took the card.  I'm hoping for the wind.  So, while he waited in his truck, I took 25 minutes to recreate the card for him.

I'm happy to report that his wife loved the card... she said she knew I'd made it as soon as she saw the front of it.  I am so happy to have been a part of their 20th anniversary!

Be sure to link up your card on the CASology blog for your chance to become a Guest Designer in an upcoming callenge!

*Picket Fence Paper Glaze*

Today is a special day in our house, even with all that has been going on in the world lately.  Today, my oldest son turns 25!  I don't know how that happened.... I'm only in my 30s, right?  Sadly no....  the truth is he is almost half my age... I will turn 50 this summer.  So crazy!!!

I am on the Scrap n Stamp Blog today, playing with some brand new items in the shop!  I was so excited whey Raya brought these wonderful Paper Glazes in to the shop!  I had seen a video when they were first released and I knew I had to have at least some of them.  Perhaps I got 7 of them.... oops.
The new Picket Fence Studio Paper Glazes come in some wonderfully amazing colours.  They are a thinner consistency that say the Nuvo Glimmer Paste but can be used in a lot of great ways.  I have heard of people using them on Gelli Plates and in lots of mixed media work.  You can paint with them or use them with a stencil.  The clean up is simple... just some water and a bit of a scrub.  They have a very slight shimmer to them... nothing over the top.

For my card today, I used a Gina K Stencil and some beautiful glitter cardstock and I stencilled on top of the glitter cardstock.  Such a wonderful tone on tone look with some sparkle thrown in!  Usually when I use my stencils and paste I use a plastic palette knife... but I got one of the Ranger Craft Squeegees and let me tell you how much I LOVE it!!  Because it's rubbery it just seems to work with the Paper Glaze a little better.  I will be trying with my Nuvo Shimmer Paste as well.

*Simple Strips*

Today's theme at Scrap 'n Stamp we're playing with black and white cards....  be sure you play along and tag it with #snschallenge for your chance to win $50 to spend at the store at the end of the month.

I bought the Taylored Expressions Simple Strips Background, the Simple Strips and the Simple Strips Backer dies and instantly fell in love.  At first I didn't like the idea of having all the sentiments stamped at the same time, but I soon realized that if I had them on hand, chances were I'd use them.

And for this card, I used FOUR of them!  I could have used more (or others) but they had been used on other cards.

I love cards that are black and white with just a hint of colour... and that's what I did here.

*Happy Birthday Mom*

My Mom would have been 81 today.... but she passed away in September 2010.  She is the reason I craft at all.  She crafted and created all my life.... sewing, cross stitch, knitting, crocheting, petit point, paper tole, ceramic painting.... and then in November 1996 she showed me her latest craft (and I honestly thought... Oh God, not another craft).  She had been to a craft fair and someone was selling stamping stuff.  She showed me this thing called heat embossing and I was hooked...  she had already hooked me on cross stitch, but I soon lost interest in that as my paper crafting obsession grew.  When she was sick (she had cancer and was giving 4-6 months to live), I spent a lot of time travelling back and forth from Calgary to Regina to spend time with Mom and to eventually help care for her.  In the early months after diagnosis, I had her teach me how to read a crochet pattern... I could do the stitches but I couldn't figure out the language in the patterns.  It's another craft I still do to this day.

I think about my Mom every single day (my Dad as well)... I miss them both so much.  On their special days, I like to do something special to mark the day.... so today I will be buying myself some flowers to enjoy to celebrate Mom on her birthday.

This card is SO not my Mom's style.... she was all about the intricate and time consuming creations...  but she would have loved to have received any card in the mail from me or any of her crafty friends.

*Seriously?*

Someone please explain to me how we are in April already?!  You'd think with being off work since the end of October, healing from surgery and then going through chemo treatments that my days would be long...  but here we are 5.5 months in and it all feels like it's gone by so fast!  Don't get me wrong... if I wanted any days to go by fast in my life, it's chemo treatment... I hope things slow down a month from now when I'm finally done my treatments and will have a few months off work to recuperate.  I want the bad stuff to go by fast and the good stuff to slow the hell down!

But then again, I guess things did slow down...  we've spent a lot of time holed up in our home over the last few weeks, trying to keep us all healthy so as to not compromise me.  Some of those days were pretty long... and still they continue

I saw this AlteNew background stamp at one of my local stamp stores (Paper & Ink Boutique in Calgary) and I just had to have it.  It was an impulse purchase.  But then I realized it doesn't really fit my clean and simple style.  But I still love it so I went outside my usual box a little.... and now I wanna think of how I can use it in my clean and simple creations...

*Sweet Birthday Wishes*

I just love this big big dahlia flower... but didn't know what to do with it.  I kept wanting to play but felt intimidated by it.  I'm not so good at colouring so I didn't know what I'd do with this image.  But one day I decided to just try it... and I'm so glad I did.  I used a very light pink and a slightly darker pink for the petals and I think it turned out OK.

*All Wrapped Up*

The team over at Scrap 'n Stamp is working on a daily challenge for the month of April, to keep all of our crafty friends busy!  I will pop back later to share the graphic (and will share it again tomorrow just in case).  For today, April 1st, we want to see cards you've embossed.  Embossing folder or heat embossed... your choice!  Share it on any social media and tag it #SNSCHALLENGE  At the end of the month, one person will be drawn at random to win $50 to spend in the Scrap 'n Stamp Store!!!
I saw a card similar to this on Pinterest a while back and had it in my head.  I fell in love with the Taylored Expressions embossing folder but didn't want to place an order for it... and I walked in to my local store and there it was, right in front of my face.  I just love it!
