*CASology #365*

It's time for a high flying challenge with the team from CASology!!!  For the next two weeks, we want to see your cards with the theme of "KITE"... you can interpret this any way you'd like to, as long as you keep the card Clean and Simple!

I have absolutely NO kite images in my stash.... and wasn't at home to be able to play with my Silhouette, so I decided to cut my own kites out of patterned paper (just to be clear, I made this at a crop at the beginning of March, before social isolation or social distancing became words in our vocabulary).  I think they turned out OK!

*Dance Like No One Is Watching*

We are starting week 3 of self isolation.  I have only been out of the house for bloodwork and chemo in the last 16 days.  I'm doing OK with it all as I know this is what I need to do to stay as healthy as I can.  I miss friends, I miss hugs, I miss running to Starbucks "just because".  I haven't even been to a grocery store.  I get to go out on Friday for pre-chemo bloodwork... whatever will I wear??  LOL

I have spent a lot of time in my craft room....  some days crafting up a storm, some days just poking around on my computer thinking I should create.  I've even spend time on Zoom in my craft room, having crafty afternoons with some great friends.  Today I am in the craft room but I'm not sure I even want to create.  I just kinda feel blah today.  I think it's the weather, the end of my crappy days after a chemo treatment and missing connections with people.

What I do know is that I need to mix up my rainbows....  or stop doing them for a while.  I've done a lot of cards with rainbows on them lately.  And here is another one LOL!

*AAA#162*

It's time for another Clean and Simple challenge with the team at AAA Cards!  For this challenge we want to see a clean and simple card that can be recreated in minutes (we know that the original design will take longer) with the optional twist of using a stencil.  Remember that with AAA Cards challenges, we like to see a LOT of empty space on your cards!

Be sure to share your creations with us on the AAA Cards Blog for your chance to be a guest designer and to win a lovely prize from Funky Fossil Designs.  Be sure to also check out the creation from our Guest Designer Sandie!

My card could be thrown together in minutes... minus the drying time for the Glimmer Paste I used.

*Birthday Candles*

This card took *way* too long to put together.  I had an idea in my head to use my Silhouette to cut candles out of some of that great My Favourite Things patterned paper.  It took forever for me to get them sized to what I thought I wanted, and then I had a heck of a time getting my Silhouette to cut through the patterned paper (turns out something happened to the blade and it wasn't sticking out of the casing no matter what setting I had it at).  I changed my blade and then my paper wasn't sticking to the mat.  I swear I spent more than an hour just working on these darn candles!!!

But I had an idea in my head and I wanted to do it... I don't have candle dies and the candle stamps I had I didn't like.  So I stuck with it... and in the end, I wish the candles had been a little bigger.

I really need to play with my Silhouette more... learn more.... get better with it.

*MFT Picture Perfect*

I love this stamp set, but I have to admit, I don't love colouring....  I find colouring stressful.  I worry I'm doing it all wrong.  I have the basic ideas on how to shade but I have no idea if I'm doing it right.  I took Copic training at CHA (now Creatavation) many years ago but still came away feeling mostly lost.  I really should just try it more often....  let myself play.

And I guess that is what I did at a recent crop with my friend Bonnie.  I knew I wanted to play with this great sloth, so I stamped it up and started colouring with my Copics.

Is there something in your craft stash that scares you like colouring scares me?  I'd love to hear about it!
I started out stamping the image on a smaller white panel because we all know that Copic markers bleed through even the best cardstock.  I took my time colouring this little guy, trying my best to get some different shades in there.  I used my Perfect Layers tools to create that great 1/8" border around my main image with that lovely black and white striped cardstock (man I love that stuff!) and then put it all on to a white card base.  Lots of white space keeps this card with a larger image still rather clean and simple (which I think you know is my style by now!)

*Gold Roses Sympathy*

No one wants to have to send a sympathy card, but it's good to have a few in your stash for that moment you need to send one... it's easier to make when you're not feeling the loss.  For this card, I cut frames of the patterned paper and the black cardstock....  and the black frame is popped up with foam tape.

*Best Day Ever Cupcake*

I love this patterned paper from My Favorite Things.... I just love me a good fun rainbow in different patterns!  I'm trying to use more patterned paper in my cards, to use up some of the wonderful things I have in my stash instead of saving it because I love it.   It's so silly to save a craft item because you love it... use it, share it, enjoy it... and then go buy something else that you love!

*Two Tone Flower*

Today is Round 9 of 12 of chemo treatments... will be heading over to the cancer centre in a bit to start the process.  I'm honestly getting tired of this routine, but am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I will be so happy to start feeling more energetic again.  Right now a 10 minute slow walk exhausts me.

It's been a long week for me as I haven't really been out of the house other than for a walk on the days it's been nice.  I had to go out to get blood work done last Friday, but otherwise, I've been at home.  It's a crazy world we're living in right now, but I am trying to make the best of it.  Friends and I (and my sister) have been getting together the last few days to craft.... using the Zoom app.  It's been great to "be with" other people while maintaining our social distance from each other.  We craft, talk, laugh...  it's been great!

This card was super simple to put together... but I really like it

*Best Wishes*

I loved the Eastern Medallion die set and Eastern Beauty stamp set from Stampin' Up! when I saw them and I *had* to have them..... and honestly, they have sat in my stash doing nothing for a couple of years now.  I've never put the effort in to figuring them out.  Sad, eh?

I'm glad I finally grabbed them and played a little bit....

If you zoom in on the photo, you'll see that I started with an embossed grid on the front white panel... I simply scored my cardstock with my Scor-Pal to get the look.

*Birthday Unicorn*

First off, my apologies on the photography of this card.... I didn't realize our washed out it looked until after I had sent it off.  I took a few photos on the day I took this photo and they turned out OK... not sure what happened with this one.  It's just way too bright.

*Happy 40th*

Once again I used a CASe This Sketch (#161) sketch to create a card.  My co-worked turned 40 in February so I decided to make her a card.  I bought these MFT Pumped Up Numbers because I liked the size of them... I didn't realize until they arrived they (and their alphabet counterparts, which I also bought) are balloons....  I'll have to play with them to see if I can trim off the little part that makes it obvious it's a balloon.

I'm not sure that I love how this card turned out.... I wonder if I should have added a layer.  Or something.

*Celebrate with Patterns*

As I promised myself, I am trying to use some more of my patterned paper.... but truth be told, this is a brand new 6X6 pack LOL!  I really should use up my stash before buying new, but...

For this card I used the CASe this Sketch #175... I have a bunch of card sketches saved on Pinterest but I find I don't go there as often as I go to my card board on Pinterest.... so I've been trying to find sketches there I want to try to switch things up.

To ensure that my strips of patterned paper are the same size, I used a die to cut each of them.

*More Patterned Paper*

Another quick and easy card for you, using more of that party paper from Stampin' Up!  I fell in love with this paper when I saw it (it's now retired), but once I got it, I didn't know what to do with it!  I'm glad I'm finally playing with the package of paper... it's out of my comfort zone, but that's a good thing!

*Happiest of Birthdays*

This was such an easy card to throw together.... I borrowed a stamp set from Bonnie and was pleased that this sentiment fit perfectly in the balloon.  But then again, of course it did... the stamp set was designed to go with the patterned paper.  I have a lot of 6X6 patterned paper so I'm trying to use it more often...

*CASology #364*

It's time for another challenge with the team at CASology!!  Our sponsor for this challenge is Stamplorations... check them out!

I will admit I struggled a bit with this prompt....  I don't have much for coffee and team stamps and dies and what I did have, was not talking to me.  So I had to think outside of the box a little.... and I went with a play on words in a pastel rainbow... adding a little cup to the image to tie it all in.

Items Used:
*Stamps:  Lawn Fawn Simply Sentiments; Echo Park Happy Winter
*Ink:  Versafine Clair Nocturne; Catherine Pooler It's A Girl, Tiki Torch, Limoncello, Garden Party, It's A Boy, Sweet Sixteen
*Dies:  Echo Park Happy Winter; Lawn Fawn Oliver's Stitched ABCs
*Tools:  Big Shot; Life Changing Blending Brushes.

We encourage you to make a clean and simple card using the TEA theme over the next two weeks and post it to the In Links tool on the CASology Blog....  we'd love to see what you create!

*MFT Birthday Blend*

I'm over on the Scrap 'n Stamp blog today with a card using some items from My Favorite Things.  I struggle with this stamp, but am pleased with how it turned out for this card.  It's one of those stamps that I just "had to have" when I first saw it.... but it honestly is sitting and collecting dust.  I'm glad I found an excuse to grab it from my bin to play with it.

It's a pretty straight forward card... I stamped the greeting in two different ink colours, using the second generation stamping technique right on to the front of a side fold card.  What I mean is that I stamped the A and P in happy with full strength ink and the H P and Y after stamping off the ink.  I added a strip of black behind the patterned paper that is along the side before adhering it to the card front.  A few pieces of bling and sequins and the card was done!
The art of a clean and simple card is leaving a good chunk of unaltered space on the front of your card... sometimes it's hard to walk away, leaving empty space... but it's worth it!

*AAA#161*

Hello friends... it's time for another clean and simple challenge at AAA Cards!  For this challenge we want to see your along the edge cards with the optional twist of Dogs & Cats.  Along the edge means your stamping or die cuts are along the edge of the card.... and remember we like to see a LOT of clear space on your card.... areas without embellishment or images of any kind (stamping, embossing, doodles etc).

Be sure to link up your card for a chance to win the prize for this challenge from Crafty Scrappers.  Simply head to the AAA Cards Challenge Blog and link it up!

I had a few different stamps I could use but decided on this cat image in the end... the others were a little more busy than I wanted for a clean and simple challenge.  I used a grey Copic marker on the cats to add a little detail to each of them.

*I Am So Lucky*

I saw an article a month ago that said something like "If you want to feel loved, get cancer".... and let me tell you, it's not far off.  Now, I don't recommend getting cancer (cuz it sucks big time), but it sure has shown me who I can count on and who truly cares about me.  It's almost overwhelming...  The sentiment on this card is perfect for so many who are in my life...

*How Old?!*

Another instalment of "what's in the leftover dish on Nancy's desk"....  more pieces of that Studio Katia die as well as the little owl.... I stamped a few of the owls a few months ago and coloured them differently trying to figure out which one I wanted for the project I was working on...  this one didn't make the cut.  I'm not sure he (or she) fits the colour I made the circle, but I had it stuck down before I really realized it.

*With Sympathy*

You know... I really hate coming up with blog post titles....  I've always found it difficult.  I usually end up with something from the sentiment on the card being the post title, but it doesn't always work out.  And I'm wondering if, in all these years, I have duplicated post titles.  I probably have, more than once.  Then again, does it really matter?

Anyway....  when I put this card together it just looked like it should be a sympathy card.... and it's always good to have one or two on hand in case you're not in the mood to create one when you need one.

*Stencil Us In Blog Hop*

Happy Friday Everyone!!!  It's the first Friday of the month which means it's Blog Hop time with the Design Team from Scrap 'n Stamp Canada!!  This month, we are playing with STENCILS!
I have a few stencils and I enjoy colour blending with them... but I wanted to try something a little different.  You'll recall that I did a post last month where I used the Deco Foil Transfer Gel and foil with a stencil.... so I was a little challenged to think of something else.

One of my most favourite products is the Nuvo Glimmer Paste... I have only bought the Moonstone colour and am almost done my first jar of it (I never use up supplies like this... I play for a bit then lose interest and move on to the next product).  I just LOVE this stuff.  I have played with it several times, usually just the gel over a stencil to create a tone on tone (with sparkle) look.  I was looking at the jar when working on the card for the hop and wondered to myself "can I colour the paste?".  So I grabbed a handy reinker (happened to be pink) and I put some of the Glimmer Paste in a cup and added a few drops of reinker and started playing.  And it worked!  I am so excited that my one jar of Glimmer Paste can be ANY colour I want it to be!

I will warn you though... start with one drop of ink and build up to make a darker colour... this turned out way darker than I had really wanted it to be!
Once I had the background done and let it dry I was then tasked with figuring out what to do next.  I cut out some flowers from MFT, layered them on, added a few pieces of bling and a sentiment and done!

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White; assorted colours of Lawn Fawn cardstock
*Images:  MFT Bitty Birthday Wishes
*Ink:  VersaFine Clair Nocturne; reinker from my stash (any will work)
*Dies:  MFT Stitched Blooms
*Tools:  Gemini Jr; GinaK Sassy Stripes Stencil
*Embellishments:  assorted bling; Nuvo Glimmer Paste Moonstone

I hope you'll dig out some of your stencils and play along with us this month!  Post your creations on the Scrap 'n Stamp Facebook page so we can see what you've done!

As always, there is a prize to be won!  Comment on each of the blogs in the hop to have your name entered in a draw for a $50 gift certificate to spend at Scrap 'n Stamp!!!  We will post the winner on the Scrap 'n Stamp blog on or about March 24th.

Also, this weekend you will find all stencils 25% off in the Scrap 'n Stamp store!

Please share the love and visit the blogs of the rest of the Design Team.....  the links are below!

*Perk of Being My Friend*

This is another card using up some of the extra die cuts that were sitting in the dish on my desk.  It's a very clean and simple one layer card.... so easy to throw together.  I laid out the flowers how I wanted them, picked them up with Press and Seal (yup, from the grocery store) and then put glue on the backs of the pieces before lining it all back up on the card to adhere it down.  I love that I learned this little trick to make placement a little easier.  It's not always perfect (hello static electricity) but it sure beats trying to glue things done one at a time and trying to replicate the placement you were wanting!
Items Used:
*Cardstock:  assorted colours (unknown as they are scraps); Neenah Solar White 110lb

*Colourful Cheers*

Today I'm here with another card using pieces from my scrap dish.  When I die cut things and end up not using them I keep them in a little dish on my desk....and every once in a while one of those pieces is perfect for a card.... and sometimes I go through what's there and challenge myself to use some of it on a card.  This card was made when I went through the dish and decided it was time to try to use some of what was there.  The pieces from my scrap dish are the flower and the fancy circle.
Items Used:

*CASology #363*

It's time for another clean and simple card challenge with the design team at CASology!  We are looking to see your take on the cue of SKYLINE in a clean and simple card.  We encourage you to embrace that plain space on your card... resist the urge to decorate it!  Please link up your creations on the CASology Blog for a chance to be a guest designer on a future challenge!

I had a tough time with this cue card, as I don't really have any skyline stamps.... except for this one Lawn Fawn set that looks very Chrsitmas-y.... so I made a Christmas card :-)
I love how so many inks react with water to create some interest in ink blended backgrounds... for this card I used some Distress Inks, but it works with other brands as well.  I also added a little sparkle with the Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust.  I used the Scan 'n Cut to cut out the row of houses as I couldn't find my dies to do it... and I put that layer on foam tape to pop it up a little.

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Neenah Solar White 110lb
*Images:  Lawn Fawn Simply Celebrate Winter
*Ink:  Gina K Amalgam; Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Shaded Lilac and Salty Ocean; Copics

*Rainbow Happy Birthday*

Just a quick post from me today... not much to say LOL!  Truth be told, I schedule blog posts in advance and I usually spend a good chunk of time in a day or two writing blog posts and at some point, I run out of things to chit chat about.

So we'll just get to the card today (and maybe for a few days to follow as well LOL!)

*AAA#160*

Welcome to a new Challenge with AAA Cards!!! For this two week period, we want to see your clean and simple cards that show off a maxi white space.  Now, your card doesn't have to be WHITE... we mean empty, unaltered, plain space.... no embossing, no stamps, no patterns, no embellishments.  Celebrate that empty space!  You are encouraged to use the optional twist of metallic, although it's not necessary.  Link up your creation on the AAACards blog for your chance to win a $20 prize from Pink and Main!
My card is pretty simple... no stamping for me (although I could have used a stamped large greeting and embossing powder).  I chose to use some metallic paper and a die.

Now, don't think that I'm amazing at these clean and simple cards.... even now, several days after I created this card, I am looking at it and wanting to add *something* to that white space.... SOMETHING....  but I stepped away from the card and I am trying to embrace all of that unaltered space on my card!

Items Used:
*Cardstock:  Stampin' Up! Basic Black; Neenah Solar White 110lb
*Paper:  Stampin' Up! metallic
